Now......we slapped up the Herbert.......and well......it killed the Meathead on the Heavy stuff. :D
Just has more of a MODERN sound.

The bass is my favorite part of the Herbert ..... how did it do in comparison ?

Ok.........just got home from the fireworks... ;)

We had about 3 good hours of dialing in the amps.
Here is my conclusion........
Both amps have their place.
The channel 4 on the Meathead is the BEST TONE I HAVE HEARD IN MY LIFE!!! :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:
No shit. Its like listening to Eddie Van Halen on the 1984 album......BUT BETTER!!
My jaw dropped.....and a HUGE SMILE came across my face! :D
It dont get better than that. ;)
We spent some time tweaking........2 different guitars. One Anderson with EMG's and a Jackson with an Aldrich pickup.

It really makes a HUGE difference on the amp settings. The Meathead is very sensitive on the dials.
Nate has one of the BEST SOUNDING AMPS PUT OUT PERIOD!!

Now......we slapped up the Herbert.......and well......it killed the Meathead on the Heavy stuff. :D
Just has more of a MODERN sound. The Meathead is like 3 amps in one. Very very versatile.
Its like asking which arm you like better........left or right. They are both in their own league.
I love my Herbert to death. But the channel 4 on the meathead is a tone that I have never heard on ANY AMP!!
It was just a BLAST! We had a few drinks and just blasted these amps at SUPER LOUD gig volume!
I was pretty ripped when it was done. Poor Nate still had to drive home. :D
It was a BLAST and want to look forward to next time!!
T-Rave......your invited!
Here is a couple of pics.......

no Clips since there is no FN WAY .......you can capture the amps TONE to anything that will do it justice!
I wish you guys lived close to me! I would love to hear this!!

Herbert is just so DAMN MEAN sounding!!
The Meathead....is more.....ROUNDED?
Very very versatile amp. Never heard an amp that sounds like an old plexi on channel 2 then the Meathead.
So damn authentic its SCARY!!
That channel 4 is tone to DIE FOR!
I am sure Nate should be home anytime soon and chime in his 2 cents.
Both amps are GREAT and I declare it a WIN/WIN!!

I'm back...finally :D

Well, here's how I see it. The amps pretty much specialize in different areas. I didn't really realize how different they were going to be. The Herbert is more compressed and more modern sounding, where as the MH is more open with a lot more tonal options. The Herbert easily has more bottom end than any amp I've ever heard before (just punishing), we actually had to dial it back quite a bit to sound it's best, the MH is not lacking bottom end but doesn't have nearly as much. The MH seems to be brighter (not bright) and the Herbert is darker. They're pretty tough to compare because they both bring something to the table that the other doesn't have, they're on opposite ends of the spectrum :dunno: It was definitely a day of raw brutality though, my equilibrium was thrown off for the first 45 mins of my drive home   That's pretty much all there is to say

Couldn't have said it better than that. WIN/WIN :rawk: That shit was the real deal woodshedding too man, it was 90 degrees with extreme humidity. I probably lost at least a few pounds of water.

<---- jealous.
Awwwwwww man.......

Show you some love! :D
Next one.....you bring the UL!

I'm there, man.
Hell, I would have been there today, but my wife's dad had to go and get himself married.
Can't argue with an open bar, though.

I guess if you're looking to play only metal, you'd be better of with the Herbert. There would be no reason to have all the other channels of the MH. If you need more of a variety (classic rock, blues etc.) the MH is where it's at :D Next time someone will have to bring a Q3  We literally had the brown sound going on channel 3 and some stupid good tones on channel 4  We got stuck on those so bad we barely even used channels 5 and 6   I think any mere mortal could be satisfied with either amp, easy.

Someone should have a Tennessee (or NC/KY/VA) amp fest so that I can come and drool over your expensive equipment, offering nothing in return but a 5150 or VH140C.

I'm a poor mountain boy.

Just re-capping....
It was alot of fun and was hearing tones I havent heard possible in my life thru any amp.
That Meathead is a monster. We played about 3-4 hours and still didnt even really touch channel 5 or 6.
Channels 3 and 4 were where it was at yesterday. Had such a tone that EVH would be jealous!
Nate helped me dial in the Herbert as well. Nothing is better then one guy playing and another one dialing.
This way I was able to stand AWAY from the amp a while playing and hear the TRUE sound while it was being dialed in.

DEFINITELY HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN!!

It was EPIC......thats all I can say!

I was pretty trashed......but thats how I roll! :D

My kind of people. Besides, I always sound better after a few.

Definitely give ch. 5 & 6 another shot on the Meathead for metal tones. So many tones in that amp its easy to miss some.

I'd definitely be down to do it again, it'd be cool if some of the other guys came and brought their stuff too. Maybe somebodys got an amp switcher they could bring too to make it easier? :dunno: I'll bring a guitar or next time with different pups in each. I'd like to hear some of the other amps mentioned too like the rockerverb and Ultralead and it never hurts to have a 5150 present  Thanks again for the hospitality Dan....oh and thanks for keeping
the booze flowing  ..........
