I mean who comes up with these names...... I'm sure it sounds great but I mean pretty lazy :dunno:

Is the 5150 pedal not “crushing”?
I wanna say it's the same....Said developed with Eddie in 2015. Really? So it took 10 years +? Unless they are talking about the 5150 Overdrive and this is just a tweaked version of that pedal? Not sure yet?

I want to hear an actual demo. The old pedal is actually great as far as distortions go. Or was, for the time.

It probably the one that's been out but with a different paint job and perhaps a few cap & resistor changes at the most- if any. Mostly a marketing ploy to make some $$$$

Sounds good..
Someone buy this and do a less produced race test for us and we’ll see ..
Call me skeptical but initially impressed with what I heard.
No flanger on rhythm tone please, just straight up gain for diagnostic purposes 😊

I really like 5150 MXR pedal, I am very curious about this new one.

Not sure if they went in and changed the description copy on the original 5150 overdrive, but it now says it was based on the 5150 III blue channel. I don't know if this was always the case or an adjustment to make room for the new one. As a long-time 5150 III owner, the blue is where I live. With a boost (klone or bb preamp are my favorites with it) the blue easily outshines the red channel for over the top mayhem without the insane amount of hiss.

That being said, this still sounds really good and seems to have that low mid width that the red channel has, plus a gate built in.

Man, the original EVH Overdrive is capable of insane levels of gain, what does this thing do - global mass destruction, chops down trees? :-)
I own the regular one so totally agree but want to try this new version

I always thought the first 5150 OD was based on the amps blue channel so it makes sense that his is based of the Red channel. Sort of like the Bogner ecstasy blue & red pedals.
