Want to start by saying I'm a HUGE Zakk fan... and I'm never usually one to talk trash about another artist, I can't play like him... so I shouldn't really be one to talk... but holy SHIT am I the only one that thinks this is borderline completely unlistenable?

Not digging the tone. Over processed wankery at its best. The mix is horrible. I have heard him play worse. However, this is probably what he was asked to do by EMG. Sit down and play a lot of notes.

There's nothin new. That's the way Zakk always plays. He slowed down more here at times than he normally does. I think I actually heard some notes outside the pentatonic scale too.

The long thumb nail is for finger picking. I'd say it was for doing cocaine bumps, but Zakk looks a little thick to be doin cocaine. It might help him shed a few pounds though. Wait...Zakk on coke? How fast would he be then?!

I gave it a listen. In my world, when you play that fast ALL the time, there is nowhere to go. It's tasteless, meaningless, etc. I'd rather listen to a guy with 1/10th the speed w/ great lines and phrasing. The best guys, like Greg Howe, GG, know how to do both. It's just sad watching a grown man jacking off like a GC teen. I hope this guy goes away. He had his day. Get lost

He used to be much smoother and easier to listen to. Multiple aspects of his technique seems to have changed greatly over the years, resulting in his playing being less fluid. The most notable is how he is now all forearm when he picks fast. If you compare it to this early video the technique change is quite obvious.

Great insight here...I watched that EMG and thought, wow that arm moving is nothing like how I play, I don't even know how you play fast with all that motion of energy. The old video here shows a completely different right hand/wrist/ maybe he adjusted due to joint pain

Lose the chorus and play that at half of half speed and he was more or less playing some cool runs in key for a change !! He has the finger strength and speed, just needs to listen to his old playing to listen to his old phrasing. This was a lot better than i was expecting but yeah, it's still boring. I could also do without the talon on his thumb. Also for the love of god, TAKE A SHOWER!

Great insight here...I watched that EMG and thought, wow that arm moving is nothing like how I play, I don't even know how you play fast with all that motion of energy. The old video here shows a completely different right hand/wrist/ maybe he adjusted due to joint pain

I don't think so...the way he plays now would give him more joint pain than the older vid where he is more econo in the sense of the hybrid picking he used imo way better than the hacking stuff he does on the strings now
