The only thing I find odd is that when I see things like this, by guys that play guitar for a living, is that they can't come up with something more interesting.

Obviously Zakk can rip, so why not come up with something musical. Play some 'music'.

That's the problem with most shred IMO. I respect the hell out of some rippers but having soul is way more impressive to me. The players that can do both are the ones with something special.

To me he just does his typical Zakkshred ever since he quit drinking. He can still tear it up, he still can bend a note with good vibrato, but there are so many notes that you can't tell if any of 'em are cool sounding. Still, I wish I had that kind of muscle memory and technical chops.

Eh, so he had a day where he wasn't feeling inspired. Happens to all of us. I'm not gonna slag him, he's put out some amazing music over the years. Put him in the right context (i.e. not by himself with a shitty guitar) and he'll slam it out with the best of 'em.

Watch him slop it up until the duel at the end where Bonamassa brings it back out of him again and helps him remember (sorta) how to play. It's in there somewhere I tell ya. Seems like he just stopped caring somewhere along the line. Sad really.

It's the beer that's missing I'm tellin' ya! Have you ever heard someone say practice the way you wanna play? Well dude has been "practing" guitar forever while guzzlin' the suds. He still has his muscle memory without the suds, but he may not have the same "inspiration" if ya know what I mean?

To me, Zakk has never been horrible creative anyway. I feel like he earned his bones by just playing like a monster with confidence, attitude, and aggression. He does great pinch harmonics, can shake the crap outta a note, etc., but he didn't come up with any of it. He did what alot of 80's guys were already doing, put some extra attitude in it, poured some booze down it's throat, came up with a cool pose, and put every ounce of his soul into what was coming out the speakers. If he never did anything else, he did all of that very well. One more thing is that you can immediately recognize his playing even if you don't know it's him. How many players can you rattle off that have that much of a signature sound?

HOWEVER, he doesn't sound quite the same sans the suds imo.

Every note bend sound so horrible and almost out of tune with such a heavy sweeping dose (The Bonamassa Video it sounds even worse)

Not a Zakk fan, but like that he was playing his SIG epiphone rather than 4.5 g Gibson.
Needs to cut his nails, take a shower,shave, slow the hell down and kill the chorus.
Serious chops though. Better than most clips posted on this board. Sorry but that's the way I see it. Better demo than I could do.
