Here I am comparing the mark IV to the kettner access

Getting caught up on your vids now, good stuff. Sometimes the Kettner preamp doesn't do much for me, other times it can be quite impressive.

Thx man, I think it has to do with the different types of IRs! This preamp is so sick, it has that boogie type of gain structure!

Congrats!

I’ve had a IVB around since 2011 or so and it’s been pretty frustrating the entire time. I know it’s because I’m running it into a recto 212. I just don’t like that cab with the Mark IV. I LOVE the Traditional/Stiletto 412 with it. That’s the cab that made me fall in love with the IV to begin with and I recently plugged into a buddy’s and it matches it perfectly for the sounds I go for.

Time to find one instead of going another 10 years of not loving my Mark! I may also go the Fryette PS-2 and IR route.

Testing new IR sm 57 grill + cap - Presence at 0 and then at 7

Pentode + mid gain + simul class = heaven!

Ya know, I had a vertical Recto 2x12 and didn't jive with it either. I've been doing some research/comparing clips and I'm starting to conclude that it comes down to 8 ohm vs 16 speakers. The Mesa 2x12's use a pair of 16 ohms while the 4x12's use a quad of 8 ohms. The speakers just sound different. I called Mesa and asked why all their 4x12's are 8 ohms when every other manufacturer I can think of uses 16 ohm. They said it's because they think it sounds better, go figure!

So yesterday I had the chance to test it through the studio's 1960 cab, which for some reason always sounds too crunchy! Anyway, this is what it sounds like !

And this one is through my modded 212 benton -peavey scorpions

Some great riff choices on that last vid, well done!

Congrats

Love your clips man!
Thx man! Please subscribe in case you haven't already! Thx

Have you tried lowering the lead gain to about 4, and max out treble and lead drive? I just tried this and it’s way tighter for me. I robbed this setting from YouTube and it’s just what I was looking for.

I just sold my blue stripe and bought a 2008 Mark IV long head. The Mark iii is cool, but it’s just too damn aggressive.
Can you please explain? Isn’t aggression a good thing for a metal tone? That is, if that’s what you were shooting for. I ask because I’d love to try a Mark III or IV, but don’t know much about them.

Sotoprince, your clips sound killer. Are those all straight in?

The Mark iii is awesome, but they have different revisions and the blue stripe is really bright sounding. I actually just bought a red stripe combo, which isn’t as bright as the blue. There’s a lot of info to do research on these amps. Reading about the amps is a lot of fun on its own.
