I'm going back to try blackstar thru a better cabinet. Played it thrust shitty jetcity cheapo cab. Cab can make a huge difference.

Those vids sound like shit to me but to each their own.
Have you played through any Diezels? I would not judge them by what you hear other do with them. They are very versatile amps. I know you're more of a '70s guy, and that type of tone is not really a strength of the Diezels I've played. They are extreme high gain amps.

The one I had interest in was the Einstein.

And that's the one I thought was horrible...IMHO. I tried it a few times on my friends old Marshall 4x12 with old beat in 65's and the Einstein sounded dark, compressed, no bite at all. It didn't sound any better on a few other cabs I had. The Herbert though sounded great on an old Mesa metal grill 4x12 with MC90's and EVM12l's. But I still doubt you'd like any Diezel.

The one I'd like try is the Dmoll.

I have a DMoll. For me, it's a damn near perfect amp

No, but I spent a night playing the Herbert and 6mo later got a DMo. I could give you that long term memory comparison, but it's less than scientific
Herbert may be a bit darker & meaner.
DMoll might sit in a mix a bit better
They both pack that signature whallop with huge amounts of clarity
The midcut is an amazing tool! I can't get the same results with an external eq- there's great quality in that diezel eq

I've played through some of the Blackstar's and played/owned several Diezels... Herbert and Einstein are what I owned. Honestly I would not own either and I like to play guitar tones from the 60's through today. Diezels are way to sterile and compressed even for modern tones and my tastes.

The Blackstar's remind me of the Blackstar distortion pedal I had. Cleans sound fake, distortion scooped

Ha walked in to try blackstar again thru a better cab. Really was better not mind blowing. Then played the new PRS Archon... That's fkn mind blowing. Took it home !

Totally agree. A friend of mine who works at a store that carries them has a Stage 60 and he put a choke in it and new transformers and I think it's pretty nice sounding. But that's a lot of work and extra money to put into an amp but he found his tone that way so it's worth it.

Gotta post some clips of that Morris amp when you get it.

I have tried both of these amps and I wouldn't say the blackstar "sucks" but I certainly would not put it next to the Diezel D'moll. I own a D'moll and the thing has balls for days. The blackstars I have tried were fizzy and really lacked punch or a "soul" if that makes sense.
