New Mesa Boogie Demo video

I wish to see Petrucci compare his vintage IIC+ with this amp!

I like it. Will get one for sure. Probably wait for one to pop up in the used section.
Real question for me is I am wondering what conditioner he uses on that beard?

I can't really say anything bad about the amp. The amp really doesn't impress me though. It seems like mesa is in a recycling and rehashing phase.

Nice try mesa. Try harder next time :D

Sarcasm FTW :)

Sounds great.

cool amp..he has zero feel to his playing...

He had better feel to his playing in his Ibanez playing days when he was younger....better songwriting back then as well.

Question for you guys that have owned or are familiar with the C+ amps......does the amp pair well with greenbacks or blackback Celestions, or is it more at home with the V30? Just curious.

I like Boogies with the EV speakers or a combo of EV / Celestions.

Thanks Snowdog. Didnt think about the EV's. After all these years, ive never once tried an EV. Food for thought
V30s sound godly with my 2C+. 65s sound good as well, but V30s for the win!

How does it sound through the Boogie OS Rectifier 4x12?

I've had this thought myself for a long time. Not to take away from his skill or knowledge of music, but I much prefer his tone on images and words. Same for his playing.

I have been running my 60w SRG through a Rivera 4x12 with V30s, it sounds/is built very close to a Bogner 4x12 I returned. I also have a Marshall MF280 oversize cab, it sounds less boomy than a Recto cab but both work well. I think the smaller Mesa Stiletto cab(traditional) would sound best. Either way V30s work well.

Looks cool. Why not 3 EQ's?

JP doesn't use eq on the clean channel.
And what JP wants.....
JP gets.

Oh wait.....sorry...
thought you were talking about Jose Padilla.
My bad

Listen to his old rig @ 1:45. The older IIC+ just has that harmonic growl magical tone. I don't quite hear that with the new one. Could just be dialed in different.

I don't know how you can compare the two videos. The one you posted seems to be recorded with a video camera with his full rack. Not even sure where the cabs are located. I'm guessing the new video is recorded properly and doesn't seem to have any outboard gear.

The album SFAM is CII+...
Anyway in this days the new The Astonishing is out, and he used this new amp for record it.

Kind of disappointing with the tone in this demo. I sounds very "deep" and empty (a bit muddy too). Too much bass and not enough mids/highs imo. I'm assuming it's the way it was mic'ed (I tend not to like his mic'ed tone in the Mesa produced demos, save for the Mark five: 25 one, which had some really good tones in it).

I much prefer the tone he has in the Ernie Ball produced demos he did for all his signature guitars. Here he's demoing just a couple of "budget" Sterling guitars, using an actual Mark IIc+ (his beard looks even more outrageous in these):

I agree the demo tones are darker sounding, but obviously the high end could be dialed in to taste. Still sounded really good to me.

I dial my 2C+ in much brighter than this demo. Its so hard to judge by these demos. It sounds good to me but we'll have to wait till someone can honestly A/B both amps.

^^This. The Mark series are super versatile. We need to hear it in person. Drawing conclusions on a comparison of enhanced YouTube clips is ridiculous. How the fuck can you tell on the basis of fragments of guitar sounds? Moreover, it's recorded with completely different rigs, mics, rooms etc. You can hear the post production kicking in on the ernie ball video.

Just for comparison, the Randall Lynch Headhunter sig amp is also at $2500, and you get one semi-cool option with it. One channel non master volume, hand wired, variac style wattage control, and . . . . ? I'm a huge Lynch freak but I could not justify spending that money for that amp, especially for the same price get an amazingly loaded 3 channel amp from another USA manufacturer.

This, exactly. I'm really not digging the sounds from the JP-2C video. Very flat and lifeless. I'm sure some tweedling with the knobs/sliders will fix it though. Hopefully we get some more clips soon.

These clips from Ernie Ball sound 1000x better to me.

I love JP but I swear he is the only guitarist who constantly stares at exactly what he's playing. He never looks up.
