What does the JOSE can do that a 2203 with a Hotmod cant do? You surely get more versality but in the essence of the tone, is there a huge difference in the end?

2 Completely different animals. The Jose has diode clipping, a better FX loop, and is a modded Plexi with options galore. The JCM 800 with a hotmod isn't as flexible. Not saying it isn't capable of great tones, just not the capabilities of the Jose. Is one better than the other?
That's all subjective. Personally, I felt the Jose didn't have enough top end bite. It was too buttery/warm. Never played a real OG Jose, so no clue how it would compare. All in all, the Jose is a great amp and well thought out. Just wished it had that extra topend bite.
Appreciate the chime in from someone with experience. Did it leave you wanting considering the hype? If the amp was 2k, I’m in. Approaching 4k, it’s in the grail amp category unless you’re looking at you know who’s. Brad era or not.
No, not at all. It's actually better than I expected and I had pretty high expectations. Having said that, it's not for everyone. It's a one-channel one-trick amp, but it's a hella good trick. I'd highly recommend playing one before buying it, if at all possible, but it did not let me down.

The Jose is based on a Super Lead, not a Master Volume. 2203 doesn't sound like 1959, but they're both Marshalls. If the 2203 is close enough to a Plexi for you, that's cool, they are similar, but to me, two different sounds.
I've never tried the Hotmod, so I can't really say how close it comes.
