New Satch Vai - pretty cool

That shit is lacking a key element in music which is soul. Way too sterile and way too pretentious. Here is Joe Holmes playing with feeling and it connects way more than that cheese fest at least to me.

Nice. I don’t know Joe Holmes. But was cool seeing Mike Bordin on drums. Almost felt like I was listening to an alternative universe Zombie Eaters, swampy edition, for a minute there.

But yeah. I feel like the shredder guys were convinced by someone once that cliche songwriting and chord structure is a way to get a hit. I would much prefer them to actually push themselves and use a chord progression that is unique. Don’t dumb it down or try to write simple. Let the singer figure it out.

I like all those guys but man that I-IV-V Wholesome Upbeat Blues stuff is not for me. It sounds like some throwaway background jingle for a truck commercial. Hard pass.

Also, no individual solos from each of the players? All that talk about "all I wanna do is play my guitar" yet none of those players, famous specifically for doing solos, took the time to rip out any gratuitous solos? What? I mean, there's a duet in there but it's not the same.

Everybody sounded great though I guess. Tones and stuff were on point, including Satch like @ewill52 mentioned. I've never liked any of his tones before so that's something.

Getting old is even worse than I thought at first. Definitely not cool ! Really sad !

I guess it comes down to "how do you top yourselves" ?
They're all very accomplished players.
I have a hard time with PT playing 3rd string. He is in his own league and can play circles around anyone.

Crazy, someones mom from 1976 time traveled into 2025 to play rhythm guitar on a red strat for satch and vai

wow I thought it was a fun tune and I liked Glenn Hughes on it, didn’t realize it was so bad lol

Kinda just seems scripted/hollywood/ed hardy in a way to me.
Made to sell an image or something along those lines.
Good players, people, and histories, but ultimately don't put these people on a pedestal above yourself, Darren.

It's fucking horrid. From the shitty song, to the horrible lyrics, to the multiple close ups of Hughes' dentures. I would think any one of the three guitars could get a Taco Bell fart to sound better than this.

I attended the G4 guitar camp, with Satch, Vai and Eric Johnson. Steve was the most likable and forthright of the group by a large margin, and he was funny. He has a live shtick that is nothing like his true personality. Satch was pretentious, and Eric a bit detached/aloof. Oh, and that song sucks.
