Skervesen Raptor 7
25.5" scale
Sand blasted ash body – carved top
Maple/walnut neck, quilted maple fretboard with ebony/maple binding
Blue Luminlay side dots
Stainless hand shaped and polished Jescar frets
Ash cavity cover, ebony truss rod cover
Bare Knuckle Pickups Nailbomb (b) + Cold Sweat [with coil tap]
Hipshot locking tuners and bridge
This guitar feels solid and well balanced. I realized that the specs are similar to a Jeff Loomis model. It’s bright and has good note definition.
My first Hipshot bridge, and it’s very comfortable. I always appreciate locking tuners as well.
The bridge Nailbomb is a nice choice. Even frequency response with easy pinch harmonics. The neck Cold Sweat might not be the best choice for high gain. It seems to lose something – volume or tone. However, for clean tones, it works really well (both in humbucker and single coil modes).
Nit picks: shipping took awhile – tis the season. I had to adjust the intonation on a few strings, but that’s it. Feels built to last. I’m already thinking of ordering a 6 from Skervesen.
