Wow, Zakk gets mentioned several times in this thread, and in the other, not-so-mr-nice-guy thread

Not sure if people are basing their opinion on actually having met him or his perception. I know both my cousins met him on two seperate occasions and said he was great, talked signed some things. Not sure what's right.

I'm gonna vote for Dime on this one, even though he's no longer with us. He seemed like he treated everyone with respect and was an all around nice person.
Dime was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Shared a Black Tooth Grin with him

The guys from Cannibal Corpse were nice as hell to me as well. Hung out backstage for about an hour. I got up to use the bathroom, and came back to find Pat O' Brian in my chair. I started to look around for somewhere else to sit, when all of a sudden he puts his hand on my shoulder and asks "Man, did I steal your chair? I'm sorry man, here ya go"  I told him to sit his ass down and relax, he has work to do pretty soon. This made him smile, and he walked across the room and got me a drink

+1 on Paul Gilbert. He has always repled to my e mails. The guys in kings x are extremely down to earth and gracious towards their fans.
He's answered a few of mine as well. Talking about his old cabs from the Racer X days. Turns out I have one of his

Have to start by saying I haven't actually met any of these guys, just my perception of them.

James Hetfield (a friend met him at a bar not knowing who he was (duh ), and he was apparently very nice and down to earth.)
He was pretty nice when I met him in 2004. MetClub backstage passes, won them in the random drawing. Godsmack and Metallica in Peoria, IL

Bill Steer from Carcass/Firebird talked to me before and after a gig, for about 30minutes each time. Real cool, down to earth guy.
Shawn Drover from Megadeth, meet after a show introduced me to the band, had a good long talk to him too.
Vinnie Moore, as above

Eric Johnson.

guy's a douche

i drove 2 states to see one of his concerts, and he wouldnt let anyone near the doors he exited and he didnt sign autographs or even talk to us, he had bouncers that wouldnt even let us talk to him while he took down his own gear.

complete jerkoff.

Mike Fortin, It would be easy for him to be the opposite, he's so good at what he does, but he's like talking to a friend you have known for years. He loves what he does too, and is very unassuming about it all

Ive met a lot of famous guys in music and i can say:

Eric Johnson- Incredibly humble and kind

Steve Vai- Yes, i said it.. Hes LOVES his fans and makes it very known. Its very obvious its genuine. many people judge him on his appearance but they are wrong..

Ive heard nothing but good things about Paul Gilbert and Andy Timmons. Really want to meet both of them sometime.

+1 on King's X. All 3 of 'em... gracious and humble. Imagine that... great musicians writing and recording really cool music, and they're not arrogant a-holes. I didn't know that was possible.

The guys in King's X are very gracious and humble. I took a friend of mine to see them. He wasn't blown away with any of their stuff I played for him, but when he saw them live it really changed his mind. He said it was the best live show he'd ever seen. He has all their albums now. After the show we were talking to Doug and Ty. Doug initiated conversation with my friend. My buddy just couldn't beleive how nice they were. He was probably even more impressed with that than the show.

oh, you said GUY.

Nonsense.

I've met Eric on two separate occasions, and he was beyond classy. The first time was after a concert, and the second time was when he was walking out of the music store I taught out of in Maui. He recognized me from before (probably because the first time was about 2 months before, and we had spoken about Hawaii) and initiated a conversation with me before I walked in the store to teach. I tried to give him space in case he wanted to leave, but he kept talking to me and even introduced me to his wife.

You have no idea why he wanted privacy at that particular show, but he probably had his reasons. The first time I met him he had a line a mile long after the show and he signed each and every autograph and posed happily for a lot of pictures.

classy? that was the most douchebag attitude ive ever came across from any musician - the fact i drove 2 states to see him made it that much worse.

it was a complete dissapointment afterwards.

and no, this was not some stupid large show like a concert - it was an underground stage 500-800 people tops. enough he could have taken time out of his bus/setup/bouncer assholes to talk to a few fans, ~75 or so that stuck around.

eventually they started ushering/ordering and threatening those who stayed too long for trespassing and calling the cops in the backstreet.

the fact you say the exact opposite doesnt change my view of him - fans of all should be respected and thats as bad as it gets in my books.

Haven't met them, but based on a lot of Iron Maiden footage / interviews / testimonies of people who have met them... Dave Murray and Nicko McBrain seem really nice and warm fellas. (Same goes to the whole band, actually.)

Once again, you have no idea what he may have had going on in his own life. He could have been sick, going through personal problems, or whatever.

Furthermore, you paid to see a concert. That's what you got. I'm not of the belief that musicians owe us anything beyond that. Meet and greet stuff is just icing on the cake.

Trevor Perez from Obituary is a super cool guy, I've talked to him many times over the years.

Chance and Nate Garnett ftom Skeletonwitch, really down to earth cool guys.

Oh yeah Wade from Motor City Pickups rules. He spent almost 2 hrs helping me decide on a pickup, I didn't feel like I was bothering him.

Of the people I've met:
Kip Winger
Reb Beach
Andy Timmons
Gary Hoey
Joan Jett
