Ola Englund Test out the new Bad Cat Hot Cat 50 Mod Shop *_*

New SF twins (I'm assuming you mean the "Custom" series by new production SF twins), are wave soldered pcb pieces/ribbon wired hunks of junk by comparison that btw are still running 2k EACH. $2199 for the '65 TRRI. The new Fender blackface amp line is not on the same level as classic 60's-70's Fender. Not sure where you get the idea they are "better" but you are mistaken on that one.
Idk to me the new stuff sounds better and is also better Built tha! the old stuff in this case IMO either way. However it's made or processes involved..... :dunno:

All I can say is I love mine...... It's better than any vintage JCM800 I've played and a few amps make me as happy or induce as much of a satisfying grin.... :dunno: ❤️

Especially with the essentials and the basics.....it's hard to beat the sound..... The tone..... And the feel *_*

My Bad Cat Lynx 50...... Not a bad amp and this new Hot Cat 50 is supposed to as good or better and having and loving my Lynx 50 I believe it. As good as the clips sound these things sound even better in person IMO. Thats when you know an amp is great IMO, when it don't need fancy shit to sound good 👍

I guess if you were comparing a worn out old twin against something factory fresh you might get that impression. Theoretically in the same condition they should sound very similar but build quality of new cheap pcb board and ribbon wired twins isn't comparable to something built on a turret board. The whole reason it's done that way isn't because it's higher quality, it's because it's more cheap to build. I'll take two vintage SF's for the same price as one factory TRRI any day.

Yeah I guess just from my experience the ones I've played failed to live up to expectations and would be great projects but at that point I mean..... You know using modern day stuff to rebuild the old..... I get but for me I don't have the time or patience....

For me the Reissues or Customs or whatever hit the ballpark tone and well sound better as well and feel better too ...... They aren't bad :dunno:

I understand what some say about the ribbon and PCB stuff but honestly the takeaway is it's more consistent from unit to unit, they retain "character" given components used are tighter than older stuff but still within a margin of error.......

And the through hole stuff such as in Fender PCB and some others use is reasonably serviceable and has been proven to be so over time and trial and error.....

IMO I get but the trade offs and the pros outweigh the cons.

I have a great tech so none of the consistency is a problem for me. That's kind of a must if you are gonna gig a tube amp often. I have better components than what you can get at the factory nowadays and have two twins fully recapped and in top working order. I mean, I paid $500 for one of them in '18, lol. That's cheap power. I just gigged them until they broke and then had them gone through 100% and my '69 has some extra custom tweaks and sounds better than any TRRI IMO and I have a friend who gigs TRRI's exclusively so I have played those too.

At the end of the day I might have 3k all said and done into two pretty sweet vintage twins that will hold some value. Everything has pros and cons but the upfront cost of 2 brand new TRRI's is $4400 bucks plus tax, ooof.

Get it while you can because something tells me these things aren't going to stay in the shelves for long...... none of the Bad Cats do but these especially.......
