Ola Englund Test out the new Bad Cat Hot Cat 50 Mod Shop *_*

Yeah. I have always found it curious that people can't see this. I thought it was still union mentality from fat, lazy workers that thought they needed to be paid a small fortune from working in an assembly line.
It went from a truth to propaganda post 1960's. Is some nice stuff still made in the USA? Yes, but not very much stuff, and the stuff that does live up to that old standard of quality is huge money because the labor is expensive and companies have to deal with mountains of red tape. Whether the bad cat amps fit that definition is unknown. I had a bad cat leash attenuator for a few years. The build quality was really good but an inherent flaw in the design caused it to emit scratching sounds when you turned the attenuation dial. It caused me a real headache when I tried selling it. I had to get a letter from bad cat confirming the design flaw before the buyer was satisfied smh.....

It carried some weight up until about 1965. Stuff used to be designed to be repaired in perpetuity...your toaster, your amp, your radio....now it's designed to break just after warranty, get thrown away, and a new one gets purchased. Most American made guitar amps now fall in that category. Anything with pcb mounted pots, sockets, jacks, ribbon wiring, etc etc=disposable junk.
Disagree to some extent. “PCB mounted, wave soldered, etc.” speeds manufacturing processes and, not necessarily, at the expense of reliability. Does it make repairs more difficult or, in some cases, impossible? Certainly. Hence “throw away products”. Our products contain a significant number of electronic assemblies, so I’m very familiar with approaches and processes, albeit from a 10,000 foot level (I was a mechanical designer, not EE, in a previous role).

Fair enough. I've had PCB amps that were of extreme quality but pcb mounted stuff, like tube sockets for example, is just being cheap and if the tube arcs out, it is possible it could trash the board, which doesn't bode well for easy or affordable repairs. I would avoid buying any amp built like that.

Whether or not we agree on pcb vs turret reliability, i think everyone is on the same page about ribbon connectors. It is 100% a shortcut and is a major fail point.

And i think there are a lot of modern components that cannot be made legally to the same standards of the past due to manufacturing processes using carcinogens, especially in the tube amp world.

The thread started out just about badcat amps, which is fine. I am sure they are great amps. But the transition to only american made products are good and new cheap made fenders being made with more quality than they were in the past...it just gets more and more ludacris.

That is all without assuming someone arguing these points must love marshall (not at all sure where that connection was drawn from) and must be unamerican.

But it seems to be par for the course. Insufficient support of arguments followed by non sequiturs isn't really a mature way to debate. And I think this is from where the majority of the problems stem; maturity

I think if you showed your psychiatrist these threads, they would be able to better help you.

I suppose there are a few things american that indicate quality. Steel, for one. But the blind faith that american made is better is naive at best
Okay well but what are you bitching about again :dunno:

I am amused by you. I thought it was obvious.

You know when people say they are laughing with you?
That isn't what is happening here

Your reliance on circular logic is sad (Sad!) and exceeds that of Mr. Gleesak. The difference is he did it for sport. You do it because you lack substance.
Yes yes.....

So what are you bitching about :dunno:

I sometimes wonder if he is this good at trolling, or truly this oblivious

People suffering from ASD will sometimes make the same points over and over, using similar or the same phrases. I def don't think it's a troll in this case.
Well. I guess I am picking on a special. That makes me a particular type of asshole

Average or below average people seem to be upset and get upset over nonsense......

When this is just a thread over a guitar amp......

Oh well, people will do what they will.
Even double-down on stupidity like you, right?
