I got a VIP pass for his show several years ago and got to meet him briefly and for a photo. I’m 5’ 10” and it felt like he was 7 foot, very lanky. Nicest guy in the world too.

I’m 6’2” and I spoke to him at the GIT special guest night, face to face in 1990. Obviously he was the special guest. I looked up to him literally and figuratively. He played a Marshall JCM800 with a compressor and an Ibanez. Funny thing, he said he was scared to play in front of us… skinny as fuck. I recall he is 2 or 3 years older than me. Yes his fingers look like “Edward salad hands”. Some people just have it…. He has it.

It's this stuff that proves to me that Ed was the king. He influenced players from a solid 20yr period. Without EVH, we wouldn't have Paul.
Between Jimi and Ed, they've influenced the guitar more than any other 2 people on the planet.

I believe he is my age...58...and around 6'6. I met him during the first Mr Big tour, mostly small clubs...back in 1989. Our drummer dated a DJ in Mpls; she got us some backstage passes. Billy, Paul and Eric were super cool and humble as hell. Pat was too busy looking at this super hot chicks chest to give a shit about us!

I had umbro’s. They were short and your balls would flop out if not careful. And if you got hard, there was no hiding it.
I guess the question is; if wearing short shorts could make you play like PG, would you wear them?

I do see it a lot that everyone mentions how long his fingers are, but I like to keep the balance by mentioning Angus Young. Or even someone in the shred world like Shawn Lane who I believe was short. That’s what I love about music, everyone can do it. It’s not so determined by genetics like sports, etc.

That said some of the stuff Paul does are definitely suited to those long fingered freaks lol. It is impressive. I’m just a very average sized hand person.
