Pick: Tom Anderson or Suhr ?

I have played almost every Anderson model they make as I used to be a dealer and was also the guitar buyer. Being a Les Paul guy, I really liked the Cobra. The Andersons were all spectacularly built and played incredibly.

Have not had a chance to play a Suhr but they seem to be rising in popularity quite a bit.

Anderson's to me have more of a modern sound due to the pickups, and suhr more vintage, suhr's just fit my style of playing more.

ok then for a Strat lover like myself which one? and WHICH MODEL ?

I want something vintage sounding.....

Suhr Classic!

I've never played and Anderson but I want to. I have 2 Suhr Moderns and feel I've found my guitar. That said, you may want to try a Suhr Classic or a Pro Series. They now offer the Pro Series with 3 single coil pups.

Anderson also offers vintage voiced pickups along with their more modern sounding models so to hear someone say one sounds more "vintage" or "modern" than the other is simply not correct.

You should play both and let your hands and ears make the choice. The great thing is, there is no "bad" choice...both brands offer what you like.

well I'm getting a Suhr pickup set (two Fletcher Landau S.C. and an SSV+ humbucker) in black with black pickguar for my MIA strat (it'll replace the EMG S/S/85 18vmod system I have in there now)

I'm not after a guitar right now, seriosly. I'm more than happy with my two strats and both my edwards. I wouldn't mind adding a Sunburst Strat though! :D

what I REALLY REALLY DO NOT LIKE about Suhr and Anderson is the freaking headstock...........

Somebody locate Jakem so he can say J-Custom.
...or me. My J-Customs are every bit as good as any Suhr or Anderson I've played/owned. I highly recommend checking 'em out...

That said, if a couple of you bastards ( ;) ) would just buy the damn guitars I have for sale (  ), I'd be getting this immediately:

Has never bothered me on mine. I like the TA headstock!

My recommendation is to buy one of each!! I've owned a bunch of Andersons and Suhrs and they are both built incredibly well and both companies offer the best customer service. The advantages with Andersons are that they are more consistent in my opinion (you can easily buy one without playing it first) and their frets are a work of art. The advantages with Suhrs are that there necks are unbelievable (definitely less stiff compared to an Anderson) and there are more options for a custom job. You really can't go wrong with either.

When I gave up PRS the 2 main choices I narrowed down to were TA and Suhr. I played a lot of both before throwing my hat in the ring. If Suhr had not come out with the Modern at that time, and TA was also talking about being done back then, I'd probably have an equal number of both. I'd probably have a few Tyler's as well. But the Modern just works for me, and TA and Tyler don't have a comparable 24 fretter. Tyler is suppose to be making one I hear. Also, I think Suhr has more readily available guitars with different wood choices.

Neither is "better", it's about what you get out of either after you play them. I personally don't think about other guitars anymore. Here are just a few of the Suhrs I have, I couldn't be happier:

Suhr Classic!

+1
Best Fender, Fender NEVER built

I always liked the andersons better, the neck was so smooth feeling and i liked every one i have played over the years, suhr was just as nice but i liked the feel of the anderson better. if i was to buy one today i would take a anderson.

Both make a nice guitar. My heart is with Neither personally but both companies make a nice guitar.

Both make killer axes, but I have to give the nod to Anderson

I'd take a Grosh or tyler over either though :D

I can't get past the looks of tyler guitars
