I don't know what "that tone" is you are looking for, but I love WCR God Wood pickups in a SG.

the riff raff has been my favorite bridge pickup for years
but I think I liked the vhII slightly better in my SG special
it's a bit hotter, punchier and less mid loaded, and I think that fits the SG a little nicer, although I like the riff raff better in les pauls
the mule also should sound absolutely amazing in sgs, if you want a less spanky sound, with a more chewy gain

I have a '74 SG that I have been thinking of changing the pickups. I don't really play it that often, but I was thinking some sort of Duncan or a Gibson 500T...
