One glass of wine / one mixed drink and I play a 'little' bit better than without it. Two glasses, and I play considerably worse than without it.
I think that first glass helps shut down the noise from the day that is still clamoring for attention in my brain.

I'm actually a tobacco briar pipe smoker. I have English, Irish, Italian and one French pipes. I prefer English and Balkan type blends. I like straight Virginia tobacco and Stoved and pressed flake tobacco. If you think the noise on guitar forums is huge, the late 80's and 90's pipe forums were crazy. I rarely smoke these days. I had some gum issues a couple of years ago that prevented me from partaking, I'm all healed up, but decided to scale back considerably...
