well my last post didnt make it for some reason,...so this will be my last post.

when 99% of the so called guitarists here at rig-talk,..think one guitarist is "better" than another because why?..they can play sweep picking!!!!!....or there more technicaly proficient!!!!!,....or,..there vibrator isnt nervous???....oh and can play scales faster!!!!....lol,......i think you've missed the point of what a musician is,.....i would rather hear one well timed blue note,..than a million scales and tap ons at super fast speed,...i cant believe i even have to say this,.....

mods,..please ban me,...i never want to be on this forum again,...good bye 80's loving, scale loving, musician hating, rig talk

xoxoxoxoxo
What? You listen to music? You mean the fasterest isn't the betterest?

When I think of classic Metallica, and what drew me to them, it comes down to three things.

1. Riffs
2. Epic song construction, almost like 2 songs in one many times.
3. Hetfields singing/lyrics

I wasn't listening for lead chops, I was head banging to the riff and riding the bridge.

Exactly.....
We play quite a bit of Metallica songs. The only time we "Nail it" is when we get all the changes an riffs down.
Nobody really cares about the leads....
Just throw anything out there. As long as it 'fits' then its good.
How many concerts have I seen....(countless)
and the solo isnt NOTE FOR NOTE *GASP* :aww:
But my life went on just fine. :D

Is Reb a technically better player that Kirk? Yes.

However, Kirk seems like a very down to earth and humble guy.

I got the chance to meet Reb when we opened for Winger in 2007. He was a smartass prick.

He is definately a great guitar player. And sometimes I wonder why he fills such a back ground role in Whitesnake... And then I remember that karma is a bitch.

To that end, I wiould be willing to bet that Kirk has inspired more kids to pick up a guitar and play than a whole lot of Reb Beaches.

And I agree Lars is the WORST drummer I have ever heard. Glad to see someone posted it on that link also.

Kirk wasn't bad in the 80s and he has written shitload of good riffs... Reb seems to be quite bitter about the whole episode. :D

That has also come across my mind, Reb is going to have this come back at him at some point :D
Dude, he always had a tendency of sticking both feet in his mouth in interviews. In the 80s he did some interview/round table with some other shred guys and the question was during a seance you get to talk to Jimi what you say to him? Reb Beach's response was something alnong the lines of "dude, you shoulda played in tune"....

Yeah. This interview. I didn't take his comment about Hendrix to be entirely out of line, but it's amazing that you (and I) remembered it. Of course, he was in the conversation with Kotzen and Bettencourt and they were supposedly the "new generation" of guitar. Reb does have a cockiness though, as he criticized Yngwie for claiming he was the "groovemeister". He also mentions some dissatisfaction with the record label in that they were basically being told to target the housewives in Idaho for their market. At the time Reb was also doing side projects with Jerry Peek and Rod Morgenstein - as we know, of Dregs fame. Anyways, this is a fun conversation.

Not that I ever had a whole lot of respect for Lars, but at the last Metallica show I saw, at the end he was walking along the front edge of the stage shooting little streams of spit through his teeth all over the front rows. Totally pathetic.

First of all,Reb says he didn't know who Kirk played for? Thats a lie,an all out lie,Reb you know dam well who he is,who he plays with, you always have. And yes he's better then Kirk, but ive never heard Kirk talking shit about anybody, that would be Lars.
Reb might be jealous cause he's still renting a house and Kirk owns several. While being better then somebody else might might count for something,i don't think it matters to Kirk.
We just need him to lose the wah pedal, and learn so different scales.

and I'll bet there were lots of dudes up front with their mouths wide open
Can't say, I was several rows back, Lars couldn't spit too far so it never got near me. Guess the tooth gap had been expanded through the years.
