Let's see if we can pick the poseurs out of this line up....

Relics; people either love them or hate them. I like them. I like building them and playing them. I think they look cool and feel better and the super ragged out ones may actually sound better:
Some artificial relicing:

Some authentic relicing brought on by blood sweat and tears:

I'm to the point that I pretty much only by used guitars that have been played. Even my most recent purchase was a worn cherry sg and I absolutely love the thin worn-in feel of the finish especially on the neck. Just feels better to me:

I don't think it makes me a poser but if I am, so be it

for many many years I only drove Reliced Cars

I have wear marks on my old HP laptop do you suppose that will make it worth more or work better.

Personally I'm not a fan of the old look though if I played an old guitar or a relic that felt good I'd accept it for what it is. I remember people liking the feel of the old necks, the paint had worn off so they were very easy to play, so the edges of the fretboard were rounded off which also felt good.

If you want to pay extra for someone to beat up your guitar, that is your choice.

Some people think heavy poly finishes alter tone in a negative way

Would I pay more money for a brand new reliced guitar? No way
Would I buy a guitar with a reliced neck? No way
Would I buy a brand new expensive guitar and relic it? No way

Guess in other contexts, like with a budget or already-damaged guitar, it could be cool
I have a relic guitar, but the price I paid for the already-reliced body was less than for a mint one
Necks I like to be in good condition
To each his own
