feel free to post the nickname of the seller to know whom we should avoid, it's really suspicious

Jay Strange. Go figure

He have a reputation?

Of scamming and ripping people off ? No. But I have corresponded with him before and suffice it to say there was plenty of bullshit to go around.

If it's the person I'm thinking of I've sold and communicated with him no issues.

Screen. Last name starts with K

I'm not saying don't buy from him as his Reverb feedback seems 100% clean. I just don't care for factual fluidity regarding an amplifier's price point or background story. That's all I'm going to say about it.

I fail to see how this is a "scam"

Dude is just f'ing with you. He has a great rating and has had some killer amps by the looks of it.

That's cool, Mr. 3 Posts to the Forum. I was ready to buy the thing but I guess he wanted to "fuck with me" and lose the sale. That's his call. Woke up this morning ready to hit the "accept offer" button on Reverb, but then he sent me a weird message full of attitude so I said bye, Felicia.

And yes, charging extra for shipping to make more money is definitely shady.

Maybe his wife wants him to get rid of gear but he doesn't want to, so he's fake selling it.

Wow how presumptuous of you. Actually I’m not him (me) LOL.

Dude just sold a Larry Dino for $12,000 and had a positive review.

You are probably a millionaire with your fancy Porsche so I’m sure you could afford the $300 shipping.

Same price in the end. Why the counter? Why the shipping markup? Seemed super weird...
Simple, the seller is vertically challenged.

Saw an amp on Reverb I was interested in. Seller wanted $3,000 + $300 for shipping. $300, WTF. So I make an offer of $2500 + $300 shipping, since I figure $2800 shipped is a good offer. Seller counters with $2600 + $200 shipping. I don't get it. Same price in the end. Why the counter? Why the shipping markup? Is it to save on Reverb fees or something?

Also I told the seller I think $300 for shipping an amp is a BIT on the high side. I just got a shipping quote for an amp today for $86 with USPS. He responds with some nonsense about how he recognizes my name from here on Rig-Talk and how my days of trolling are over. I cut ties and said good luck with the sale. Seemed super weird...

The guy's local to me. You should ask if pick up is an option. I could go get it for you.

Nah I've already passed on the purchase. Thanks for the offer though.

How do you see what things sold for on Reverb?

I don´t think you can see what they actually sold for, though, you see whether they sold or not and the asking price. Accepted offers don´t show up, or at least didn´t before.

There you go. Get him to accept $2,300 + $500 shipping, then message him after the sale and say a local friend will pick up. Since he doesn’t have to ship, only pay him $2,300
