Exactly what happened, I talked to the guy. Pretty straight up, nice guy, nothing weird about him. Fact is, he did recognize OP from previous interactions, and didn't want to do business with him, plain and simple.

He's bought/sold some pretty high end gear, great feedback.

He wanted $3,000 + $300 shipping. It doesn't cost $300 to ship an amp. We've all bought/sold amps before. We all know what it costs. And it's not $300. I just shipped an amp last week for $80 and got a quote for a second amp shipment a few days ago for $86. $300? Please. So I offered the guy $2500 + $300 shipping since that's what he thinks it costs. That's $2800. He countered my offer with $2600 + $200 shipping. That's still $2800. He also included a note that said, "I will do $2800 shipped." So... what do you think would happen if someone sells the thing for $1 + $2,799 shipping? Think about it.

Right. I declined his offer. I didn't "lose" the amp. I'm ok with not having it as it was just something that would have been cool to check out. It's not like my life is over because I couldn't buy a guitar amp. I have never encountered a situation where someone keeps moving the shipping price of something around without changing the total price of the item.
