First post by me to be used for cannon fodder with your rapier like wit Curt!. When starting this post I had no idea Bieber's name would be dropped.

Bah, I should probably be banned for mentioning Bieber in a perfectly good Schenker thread. :D

A classic for sure and I agree one of the best hard live albums ever!!! Schenker destroys on this!!!

Just got done playing this at work for a week straight. When Schenkner goes into the Doctor, Doctor, I about lose it! Remember the first time I learned "Rock Bottom" great rolling lick.

Certainly one of the greatest records of my time. But for those who have never heard it find MSG - Built to Destroy. Have to get the UK/Japan edition IMHO as it was slightly different than the crappy US release but damn that dude just kills on there. Too bad he is pretty much hit or miss these days. Again IMHO one of the worlds greatest guitar players. From a phrasing standpoint not many can touch him. The way he uses the wah for tone is brilliant. Could I get some more MSG in my egg foo young mom, please!

Great album! M. Schenker at his peak IMO!

Steve

Just saw him a short time ago in Tempe, AZ and he still rips and has the phrasing down. I would say he is still in that peak !

I need to pick this album up. Been loving the UFO greatest disc from '74 to '83. :)

Kirk Hammet did not come from the Schenker School of Wah. Just sayin'.

I may have to give it another listen. It never really did anything for me in the past. :dunno:

Bro, If you get a chance to see him live on this tour, not only is he on top of his game, he actually managed to raise his own personal bar... I was dazed by what I saw in March; sheer musical genius...

Kage it is a great album to play while hitting the heavy bag and skipping rope.
As much as I love Schenker and UFO, my music of choice for Heavy Bag speed bag workouts is Motorhead and Pantera...

+1 I'll have to dig it up again and give it some listen time.

Kage I am just starting. I am a long way from working out at that tempo! Haha

As a new UFO fan, I will say they had to grow on me. But they grow well, love them now.

Oh man, this is my favorite live album of all time. They were in prime form and the disc
shows it.

Chrysalis put out a UFO "live bootleg" box in 2008 and it has another show a few days prior/subsequent to the show(s) used on SITN.

There were really no solo overdubs on this album (check out the bootlegs from the tour - Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hype etc...) + the 2008 live bootleg release. Schenker was really that good at the age of 23. Damn...

One of the best live albums ever.
I saw UFO opening for Rainbow at the Beacon Theater, NY 1975. It was intense!

Sounds like Metallica was listening to UFO's Rock Bottom when they wrote Ain't My Bitch. Wrote, or maybe ripped off.

And checkout this solo. He's RIPPIN.

Just watched a new live vid on YT better than ever. Just sick. One of the greats.
