I don’t know if someone’s already posted about this, but damn, what a joke. It’s the biggest pile of shit I’ve ever seen. There are a bunch of chicks I’ve never even heard of/ The girl that plays with Alice cooper is in there. She is ahead of some serious heavyweights. Yngwie didn’t even make the list! He must be enraged. It’s crap. The list is crap except for the top 10. There are so many people that shouldn’t even be on there.
 
At least Andy Summers made it to the 250th spot!

Glenn and KK at 219?
With Lizzy Hale coming in better at 218?

Nothing against Lizzy, and I'm sure she would agree, that she doesn't outrank Priest!
 
you know they make those lists to pander to whats left of their audience. no one takes them seriously anymore. another entity brought down by an obsession with "wokeness". Everything is problematic to them.

the list is artificially padded with women guitarists. not trying to be sexist, but its pretty obvious.

Lol, I feel your pain. They had a 21 up and coming blues players in some guitar mag late last/earlier this year I think. Just about every name on there was rock guitar music or just mediocre guitar based blues rock stuff no serious blues listener would want to hear. There were about 3 actual "blues" players. Of course the list had a bunch of females to make it politically correct. Next year they'll probably have a dude in a dress.

I was reading that the old Guitar Player magazine tried to get Albert King on the cover. He said "how much you pay?". They told him they don't pay the artists featured in the magazine. He said "you sell your magazine for money, I want 500 copies". No can do. I will never buy another guitar magazine again knowing they are like some shitty club offering gigs for exposure meanwhile the artists ride the poverty line.

usually they have some goofy fuckin opinions on shit. It is rolling stone after all…
 
This reminds me of a short video I saw (it was comedy) where some woman is telling her husband about how no one knew who Travis Kelce was until he started dating Taylor Swift. Ha. Talk about having no informed opinions or knowledge about guitar players. You would think a "music" publication would have better system to try and rate these guys. Also I think the list is basically generated for controversy - sort of like clickbait. It is to be dismissed out of hand.
 
Jimi will never not be #1 because "black people started rock".

Strap an acid tablet to anyone's forehead, hand them a guitar, and guaranteed any sounds that will come out will be "far out man".

Nita Strauss at 125 or so, ahead of so many legends and bad ass players. Besides playing Alice coopers songs, what has she done? All she did was learned some songs.

Rolling Stone has become a joke over the past 15 years or so, but still, they’ve gone too far this time. The guitarist from sleater Kinney at around 60, dear god, she hovers at beginner level. Pj Harvey and st. Vincent crack the top 50.

St. Vincent is ahead of guys like Clapton, gilmour, and dare I speak such sacrilege, SHE IS AHEAD OF the MIGHTY JOHN MAYER!! I remember vividly, when he showed up on the scene, taking it by a furious storm of guitar wizardry and licks so devastating, the guitar world was left speechless and utterly shattered. It was obvious that this guy was scratching at the ceiling of what people even considered possible. Just the feel alone left us weeping children, puddy in the hands of a master. His facial expressions sealed the deal, once I saw those, I knew, undoubtedly, that a stage 10 master had arrived.

Damn you rolling stone!! MAyer didn’t even crack the top 50 when he should SO CLEARLY BE NUMBER 1!!! Shame on you.
