Whoever is mixing their sound is putting the drums way too forward. Alex sounds neutered. Long way from Hiwatts or Marshalls. Even the H&K sounded better.

He was buried in the mix when I saw them in 2008. Ticket prices are bad for the show here, but not nearly as bad as Iron Maiden is going to be.

I still think Mike Portnoy would have been a better selection for the drumming gig. That guy idolized Neal and would have obsessed over every little detail and drummed his ass off to have the honor of drumming in memory of Neal.

Overall I think they sounded good for the finale Tour, Geddy and Alex ain't spring chickens any longer and you CANNOT phone in the performances with their songs being as complex as they are: ie: timing changes, breakdowns, intensities. So they get major Kudos from me touring in 2026 as a 3 piece and pulling it off.

There's just no way anyone can expect Geddy to sing like he did in his prime. I sure would not, but with the ticket prices I can see why some would but it's just not possible IMHO....the dude's 72 Mr Game, as it is... it's impressive they can put on over a 2 hour show and still make it sound good, maybe not great as they were in 1980 but still good.

I'm more impressed that Geddy can still hammer out those bass lines and fills like that.

They´re four this time, they have a keyboard player that sings back-up too. But yeah, your point still definitely stands.

To me they sound just like they did the last 5 times I saw them. Honestly, I think some of the tribute bands do a better job on their stuff than they do. YYNOT is pretty badass and their singer can hit all the notes. 70s Rush is my fav era and Geddy simply cannot sing that stuff well anymore. Alex still sounds good and can play, but he lost his mojo in the 80s (to me). He became more of an atmospheric kind of cat vs a 70s blues based hard rocker. I recall when Grace Under Pressure came out and I hated it. I like it now and appreciate it way more as I have gotten older or more mature ha. The drummer does a fine job and they could have had any number of people to do that gig and it would have been fine. Neil Peart basically talked through his playing and had no real ego or stage presence so to me it doesn't matter. My only misgiving or critique would be: I never cared for their goofy videos in the show and also the weird stage set ups. Give me massive amp backlines and look like a rock band - even if they play through digital rigs. They are 70s rock legends. Look like it!

I'm a bug Rush fan. They are #2 on my list of all time favorites. I LOVE them.

That said, I didn't like this. Geddy's voice is not good and I don't like Anika's playing. When they announced it was her, I checked out a bunch of her videos and I just don't like her style. That goes for her doing the Rush stuff too. She sounds like she's always ahead of the beat or something.

Not a fan. Wish they would've just hung it up on a high note (pun intended.) But here we are....

And before someone asks... No, I don't have videos of me playing drums better than her, singing better than Geddy, me playing sold out arenas, etc...

Mike actually said he would not want that gig as to have to live up to the scrutiny and pressure of living up to Peart.

All the social media on this show is all on Anika and "wow she can actually play" LOL. It's actually a slight to her even though most people don't realize it.

8-year-old kids on you tube is playing Neals drums flawlessly. and not a knock-on Peart at all, one of the greatest drummers of all time.

But most good drummers can play his stuff, just like most good guitars players can play any of our hero's stuff. and Anika is proof. Most were surprised by the choice. But like I said, many teenagers cut their teeth on Peart drumming.
