Saw Tesla the other night!!!

Tesla sounded great at M3 on Saturday...it was a toss up between them and Mr. Big for "Best in Show". Jeff did appear to be on something though IMO...he was making some odd faces and his jaw appeared to have a mind of its own when he wasn't singing.

So summary of responses to comments above.

- I think Jeff was playing a JCM 900, but if it was stock, then I need to know what sort of pedals, tricks , whatever, he's using because it sounded beyond killer. I've never heard any stock Marshall sound that good period. I'm sticking to my guns on this one until proven otherwise because my ears are pretty darn good.

- The venue I saw them in has TERRIBLE acoustics - most bands sound like shit. Somehow the guys running the board got a fantastic sound. Big bonus was the guitars were up in the mix very much, but not overkill by any means. Perfect.

- Jeff Keith sounded pretty much like the 1st or 2nd album recordings - surprising. From their more recent recording his voice did sound a bit worn, but not this night. Maybe because it's early in the tour, dunno.

- As far as drunk / wasted goes, they were drinking Coke, and made it a point to point out that Tesla was sober. Who knows what the truth really is, but I didn't see anything too strange.

- There were a ton of women there! Sorry Donbarzini no sausage fest at this one!

I wish they would come back next week, I'd go again!

I saw them in January in MN. Frank was using JCM 900 and Dave had what looked to be JCM 800 2100. They sounded killer. Jeff voice was in great shape compared to a couple years previous. They seemed completely sober to me. And yes it definitely was not a sausage fest. I would go see them again in a heartbeat.

Yes, Jeff made many odd faces. But lead singers do that. I don't know why. I'm not realy thinking he was high or anything. Just LSD. And he's always been a bit weird.

Now THAT would be interesting... ;) (I know you meant Frank...)

I thought Jeff sounded very good - he really didn't miss much of the higher stuff, and sounded strong all night. He was drinking water from what I could see.

Frank stole the show, but then again, I've always liked Frank. His backing vox were SPOT ON. I had a hard time telling him from Jeff at times.

Dave was cool the first couple songs. After that I got tired of his "posing" - his slow "menacing" stare at the audience, and slight nod of his head. It got old fast. You're in a rock'n'roll band that plays good times tunes. Look like you're having fun, and not trying to be in a 90's pose-off shoe-gazer band. Just sayin'...

....Jeff was so drunk, he couldn't even stand, he fell into me a couple times and he smelled bad.
Was he walking around like this when he fell into you?
He is known for doing this on occasion.

Mechanical resonance has been in my playlist for prolly 20 years now...freekin killer band and sounds FANTASTIC!! Wish they were coming to Podunk...errr I mean North Carolina!!

Mechanical Resonance (has it really been 25 years. damn I'm an old fuck!)
Great Radio Controversy
Psychotic Supper
Bust a Nut
Into the Now

.....all in rotation still on my playlist, although must admit only like a handful of songs from the 2004 effort and I couldn't listen/buy the latest due to Jeff's voice being off on that one.
