why on earth would you ship using USPS for anything over $100 in value..?? Their tracking is a joke

I'll had over 150 guitars arrive via usps/can post without any real issues. They are pretty good.

YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED A TRUE MIRACLE!!!! I used USPS 3 times, and they destroyed an amp. I switched to fedex, fast, great tracking, easy to work with.

If this thread hangs around long enough we will hear why each of the three suck and why they're not so bad. I'm sure that shipping packages safely and reliably at a large scale is a really hard problem to solve. It's a risk you've always got to bear in mind when placing precious gear into someone else's hands.

I can say the same thing about UPS though. :dunno: So if something is working for you stick with it.

I've shipped and received lots of stuff through the years. For me, ups or fedex websites, updates, text updates, etc is far better than any other service I've used. Doesn't stop the occasional mishap, but they have fairly reliable and updated shipping statuses.

Bought a PUP of RT, this year, shipped USPS. Checked the website daily for location /shipping status. There was no update from when it had departed until it was logged in as delivered....to some address in Maryland, or Maine.....man I'm in NC! What in the actual fuck, right. Got a real nice dude on the phone that finally figured out computers had up fucked the info....showed eventually, within a couple days.

I've got buddies that work for ups and USPS locally. Anytime I'm receiving something they intercept it for me and hold at there shop...just to keep it from one more truck ride. :)

I'm not much of an amp whore to be fair. Maybe they fuck up amps more

Really though, it is the first bad experience with USPS, and second with shipping. One was UPS that broke the item and gave me some serious hard time getting insurance money. I don't do FedEx because its office is in Downtown and I normally ship during lunch (can't get there and back on time).
USPS was good for me, I sold off couple of my other than musical collections on Ebay (over 400 items sold) and never had problems.
Thats first time, and right before I shipped the guy on the other hand asked me who's better to ship with. I told him that I trust USPS. he shipped Fed Ex and I play his guitar for almost two weeks now...my guitar hasn't left the State, according to traffic. Now he is about to go to vacation for a week.
I dunno, its the shipping season and they are on the verge to lose my business....

On a completely unrelated note, Knockout, I just noticed your avatar this time. That's hilarious because for years I have made that exact joke, but using my maximal southern redneck accent.

Have you had something shipped Priority in the past year or two? It's MUCH improved.

Yes, about 25 packages this year I shipped or received and I think three of them arrived on time. They were pretty good until earlier this year and have been terrible since then.

I shipped a guitar 2 day priority a few weeks ago with them and it literally didn't leave my city until 1 week later! And all they could tell me was it must've been misplaced and if it doesn't move after 2 weeks then they'll figure something out. I always use them but this past year they have been slacking.

One piece of advice for everyone...do not ship/order anything from Dec 1-Jan 31. All carriers get so busy, your chances of a problem unfolding gets multiplied. I've had some problems with USPS/ups but all of them occurred during the holidays.

I've shipped a lot of small packages USPS Priority, it's excellent....large packages, have never had an issue in 10 or so..but honestly FedEx seems to be best bet for guitars.

Here's another. Missent yet again. It should have come from Phila to my local PO today and delivered today. Seller is not even that far from me

I've had the same type of experience with USPS twice just in the past month. Packages will arrive at one terminal, then sit idle for a week before moving to another terminal. I don't get it.

The guitar showed up. Exactly 3 weeks later...I could have shipped it to Antarctica through Germany, in shorter period.

Post office is becoming a joke. "In order to serve you better we are going to make service worse"
Me and my co-workers shake our heads remembering how it used to be several years back. Pride in the work force.
It should be re-named. NOT USPS (united states postal service) to USP (United States Postal) since they are taking the service out of the picture.
