Haha having like 30 amps that all do something great vs one amp that does everything pretty good maybe isn’t simpler, but I know what you meant. The only amp I’ll likely keep with more than 2 channels is my purpleface. That’s maybe my one exception to simpler is better, but very well may have sounded even better if it had fewer channels

They aren’t the most versatile amps; and if you didn’t try boosting them then you missed out on what makes them special. Or, maybe the caps were shot? But, a QR is basically a boosted Marshall circuit anyway, plus you have all the bells/whistles added like loop/clean channel. Personally the Splawns I’ve played aren’t bad sounding amps but they seem kinda sterile or flat sounding to me. But that’s just me.

I actually think the NVM Marshall’s, especially my 72, are very versatile, just not practical since it’s loud. For most styles other than the heavier stuff I think it does great. It even does cleans that can rival any of my other go-to’s, just a very touchy sweet spot on the knobs to get there. Now that I think about it, I actually think it might be my most versatile amp along with the Naylor’s

The power in stock 2203 circuits is with boosts, but I get where you’re coming from amp vs amp. I certainly don’t like a stock 2203. I prefer modded.

I want a stock 78 2203 . I just want one for the purity . Like AC/DC Powerage.

Imo you’re describing a NMV Marshall there more than a 2203, but I love both. NMV’s to me tend to have tones that I interpret as more pure, but not necessarily always better all the time

Both are great . Hopefully get both at some point . But I agree and see your point .
