Should you get an amp head roadcase?

Saw a really nice gator road case, and for some reason I desire it.

Don't gig at the moment, though.

Do you cool cats have them?

Since my amp gets loaded by me in my vehicle I would have zero use for one. Just another thing to take up space

When I used to do international gigs I had one. It was worth it if you're doing that.

If you are only touring domestic, or small local gigs? Kind of a question on if the extra weight and space is worth it to you. For me, and most people? Nah not worth it.

If you're super worried about your gear getting damaged by a rough roadie team? maybe?

Yes

F that. At my age, I'm trying to trim crap off my gig rig. If i can walk into a gig with a guitar made out of light plastic, one 6L6, half a pic and a speaker (without the surrounding wood), i'm happy.

one reason I got the rack version of the JP-2C; I had an Engl rack with Furman, Engl E530 preamp, and E850/100 power amp. Sold the E530, still have the the Furman and E850/100 in a rack...use it with my ISP Theta Pro and MSX

Worth it if you plan on playing out and hauling your gear around a lot, especially in trailers etc.

For occasional buddy jams & being a weekend warrior, I’d get a studio slip cover instead.

FWIW I’ve got a case I bought 20 years ago that was well worth it when I played out and traveled more. Used it for a few different amps and kept them all in great shape.

I gotta homemade road case someone built for a Twin I bought. It has nice hardware and plenty of padding but the foo' built the bottom section to run halfway up the speakers so you can't just pull the top off and mic it, you gotta pull the whole damn amp out, which kinda defeats the purpose. I use it for a rolling bench out in the shed.

No gigging going on here but I bought my Dual Rec from a dude in TX and he included the road case for $1500 I think. So why not :dunno:

Gave me piece of mind him shipping it (also in another box). And it came in handy when I had it modded because the place I go is a complete shithole and there is no room for any process, order or cleanliness

Yes. Both of my amps have tour cases. It's a worthy piece of mind when you just throw everything in the back of a trailer to gig.

I got a live in case for the Verellen Skyhammer that the Mesa Stiletto fits. I'll fit whichever is going to the show in that one. I also have a trunk style case on wheels for the Mesa Mark V. It's niceto wheel it into a gig instead of carrying it.

I also have a live in rig case for a Mesa amp and 6 space rack sitting around. Why do I still have that?

I keep all my amp heads in road cases. Out of sight and out of mind. Then once in a while I’ll bring one of them out and swap out my “current” amps and it feels like NAD.*

* Disclaimer: this does not cure GAS.

How's that back rest on the roc'n'soc? I have the throne but without the back rest and have been consindering getting a new one for playing.
“I like it” I’m not a drummer but I’ve been in many sessions that the drummers always loan me a chair and many times the “backrest” was very
Comfortable! I bought a drum throne for my home studio when friends want to sit while mixing or I might use it for a different perspective.

I do use a 6U rack for sessions and gigs (sorry to people that hate the BE-100) this is “a lot” easier to carry than the Big 20 space, back in the day…
