Should you get an amp head roadcase?

When I was gigging we had a 16’ enclosed trailer I customized specifically for our gear. We had doubles of literally everything and all of it was in racks or cases. Now that it’s just me and my shit at the house, the road cases are kind of a pain in the ass. They’re big, add weight, hard to store.

Saw a really nice gator road case, and for some reason I desire it.

Don't gig at the moment, though.

Do you cool cats have them?
It depends.

For heavy road work yes. I once did 160+ shows during a 2 year period with a proper traveling van and trailer so the road case(s) saved the day. Kinda a must IMO.

For weekend gigs here or there, I have a soft case with wheels. Worked fine.

For rehearsals, I never left my amp at the rehearsal spot, so just my amps vinyl cover since it was going from backseat to either the house or the rehearsal space.

For my cabs I have 2 4x12 Tuki padded covers. When I traveled with both I would just pack them with the speakers facing together so nothing could puncture them. They worked great.

Every amp head I’ve ever owned I’ve bought a good ata case for. I don’t gig like I used to, but for storage it’s great.

Also I used to gig with 4x12s. Back in the 90s I put a Marshall cab in the back of my suburban and had something fall on it and it smashed a couple speakers and ripped the grill cloth. I bought a case for my gigging cab ever since. Now when I do gig I either have a 1x12 or 2x12 and have cases for those.

If it's an all time favorite....
A total keeper...
A rare or fancy wood model...
And you can afford a case for it, why wouldn't you?
You could just get covers for them. That's enough to keep the dust out.
I keep my guitars in their cases because that's what you do to take care of them. It keeps them from fading or getting dusty etc.
I will admit I have an affinity for good/fancy boxes for stuff. Some of the books I collected came in "vaults". Some liquors come in boxes/tubes.
But in reality, I'm sure few of you reading this are as OCD about boxes/cases/vaults/etc as I am.
The things I have acquired that have either sentimental and/or actual value deserve to be taken care of.
The amps that don't merit a case or cover get treated like bastard children...piled into a corner facing the wall.

My 72 1987 Marshall came with one, it was the second one in the amps lifetime of gigging around Minneapolis area and the amp was in excellent condition so if you are going to gig or transport regularly, I'd say go for it.

How's that back rest on the roc'n'soc? I have the throne but without the back rest and have been consindering getting a new one for playing.

I have the backrest on mine, I like it. When Im playing drums, using it helps me keep my posture correct and keeps me sitting in the same spot. Ill slouch and slide around without it.
