A early 70's NMV, one of the loudest amps known to man, has to sneak out of the house... :hys:
Be happy I didn't tell him to get a Marshall Major then. :)

Just read the first year of the Major it was loaded with KT88s, how fucking metal is that?!?!?!?!

There might be 40 pounds of metal in the transformers...

Like others have said, 70's JMP is where its at. It doesnt have to be pre-pcb IMO. As long as it roars its awesome. Just make sure you get a Non Master Volume one. Add a PPIMv and you will get gained out bedroom volume tones that kill. Turn it all the way up and your back to stock and kicking motherfuckers in the teeth.

Modelers come and go but JMP is forever.
Or until you need a cap job and a replacement o-x. :)
And it will still sound better than a AXE.... Oh wait... Wat?

Well, not like you get 200 watts out of 4 tubes otherwise... :)

Oh man that sounds great Olaf!!! Going to watch that again tonight at home.

Reading the histroy of marshall right now, some of these posts are losing me
Merci. I took away some mud (the part when I cranked the gain) later. Its "better" now.

Just get a Metro or a any wracked Marshall JMP and then DIY - IMO.

That entirely depends on the pilot...not the plane.

I wouldn't add a PPIMV btw   (hi George :) )

I'm with you on that Olaf. Crank it...load it down and go from there. I still need to yank the one out of the Plexi SuperTrem i picked up awhile back.

I'll go with that too - I've tried several ppimv's and always end up diming the amp, loading it down and going to town.

I love my PPIMV. I've had hotplate and slaved poweramps and... I still think a good PPIMV sounds great and can be completely out of the circuit when cranked anyway...

It depends how loud you can play it IMO. The PPIMV sounds good at medium levels, but not at lower leveled stuff. It craps the NFB, which is - for me - a huge part of the Marshall-ness.

The reason I like Super Trems is that the trem actually sounds amazing, as does the clean on it. Plus its the Uli hang.

You'd probably love my '70 Super Trem Ed

This was recorded so low with my PPIMV I had to completely crank my mic pre to get a signal to record. Beyond bedroom low volume... Sounds pretty Marshally, no?

Very likely would, have yet to meet a Super Trem that didn't rule.
