I bought my 2003 snakeskin SLO brand new in 2005. It has been my "lifetime" amp since. I decided to buy a second SLO recently. I paid around $3000 for my first SLO, and about $4000 for this one. I feel they are both worth every penny and the only amps I ever want to play through. I'm not interested in the BAD version, even if it ends up being an amazing amp. I just want the original that I bonded with for the last 15 years. Nothing like it.

One day soon people are gonna realize they spent way too much $$$$ on amps they wouldn't even be looking at if they weren't "rare" now....

I agree with what you are saying as a general statement, but for me, I was thinking "another SLO" from the moment I plugged in in 2005. Did Mike retiring make me buy a second sooner.....yeah, probably. But I waited 15 years. So, the SLO has been my one and only for 15 years, and this is no impulse buy. For me, nothing can take the place of an SLO, it's become a part of my playing style and a second instrument to me and how it responds. I've always been a "one guitar, one amp" kind of player. This is probably my last high end purchase for my lifetime, and worth every damn penny.
