Listen to anything off of RATT's self titled cd. Breakout is a good tune. I think this pretty much sums up the SLOs high gain tones

Yeah I love that tone, best SLO tone Ive ever heard.

I'm pretty sure DeMartini started using SLO's on Reach For The Sky, but Detonator is his Marshall

I also think all the leads on Wicked Sensation are SLO, could be wrong, and the second Lynch Mob album, but I hate the guitar tone on that one.

The self titled Motley Crue album also has some SLO

Thats right good heads up!

I pussied out on the Vintage Modern grail quest bro.

I can only rationalize owning two heads at once... and 5 notes on this Soldano sealed the VM's fate.....

That VHT sure ain't goin nowhere!

Gary Moore....

For sure! LOVING his tone on the Montreux DVD set with that pair of SLOs back there. Even with the [stock-looking] strat it sounds awesome.

I really love my Bogner XTC, but if ever I was tempted to look at other pastures it was while watching that 1990 performance.

Showbiz by Muse might be SLO...he at least used one a lot on tour for it.

Satriani's Extremist (Summer Song, etc) sounds very SLO ish to me.

Believe it or not, the amp used for the Extremist CD is Doug Aldrich's modded Marshall, he loaned it out to Satch for the recording of that album

Really? "Summer Song" in particular just seems like it has SLO written all over it. I would be surprised if it is anything other than that.

been gas'ing for a slow this thread is gonna help me empty my wallet ....

and i didnt realize gary used a slo ...

Heard a HR 50 on the weekend, at a local ger head day. Was easily my favorite new tone of the day

Yep that album is Doug Aldrich's modded Marshall JMP, Doug told me that a few weeks ago.

Doug recorded a solo album called 'Highcentered' around the same time as when Satch was recording the Extremist CD. Andy Johns was producing both of these albums and from what i understand, Satch heard the tones from that amp and asked if he could rent the amp for the recording of the Extremist

I loved the VHT 50CL when I played one years ago. I've owned the SLO and a HR50+XL. Soldanos are killer amps but I'm more at home boosting a Marshall. Enjoy your amp.

Bump! Necro thread! (lol)

Wondering if anyone have albums to add to the list!

Pretty sure the first firehouse record is and Alex Skolnick used it for leads on one of the most recent albums.

I think Extreme's III Sides has a lot of SL-60 on it. I had one of those and thought it sounded a lot like my SLO.

I think I saw it mentioned, but Warren Haynes with Gov't Mule comes to mind (not sure if he's still using it but he definitely has in the past, both live and on recordings).

I love this album although I haven't listen to it in a long time, never thought that it was possibly a Soldano behing it.
But now that I just listen to it all, most tracks definitely have that Soldano tone.

Even it's not a SLO behind all of this, it's safe to say that this tone is attainable through a SLO!

Harun Demiraslan of Trepalium and Step in Fluid use SLO
