i don't see the advantage just to controll the amp features.
that could do already the old FS-7 and the columbus easily - plus many more.
i guess $400 is pretty steep for a "noname" controller.

So...what you're saying is that McDonald's makes a better hamburger than your mom just because they make more?

Truth be known, all of the "big name" manufacturers you know and love all started out as a "noname" at some point. It doesn't take a name to develop and make a well made product. All it takes is one person with a passion and a desire to do so. ;)

We actually dropped the price to $300 a couple of weeks ago. These controllers are also 100% hand made from start to finish and feature heavy duty switches...not the common tactile switch/actuator setup you find in most modern controllers. Tactile switches fail after a few years of use. I have yet to see a heavy duty switch fail.

In regards to not seeing the advantage, it all depends on what kind of player you are. Some are perfectly happy calling things up in "patches". However, others prefer to have instant access to each of the channels and functions like a conventional foot switch. And some prefer to have both patches and instant access available. Some don't like MIDI controllers at all. Then there are those who just like yourself, didn't see an advantage to it at first...until they had the thing in their hands and tried it. It's all about different strokes for different folks.

To better state it, I would never have invested the time and energy to design and develop a product that offered no advantages and I feel that I speak for quite a few people on this. One of these people being George Lynch, who is the one who originally came to me with the foot switch idea in the first place. ;)

The Columbus cannot give you instant access control to each of the functions and channels. Sure, you can program a patch with the only thing different being the one thing you wanna switch. But then the player has to remember which patch holds that configuration. And let's be honest...a controller can only hold so many patches in its memory. With our foot switches, it's like having the amp's panel switches right on the floor. You can switch any channel and any programmable function at any time no matter which patch you have called up without having to waste patch memory locations.

In regards to the old FS7, only a few of them were made. Granted, Diezel is making the FS7HA foot switch as we speak. However, from what Diezel has stated, the FS7HA is only compatible with the MkII series amps whereas my foot switch will work on any Herbert/VH4/Hagen as long as they have Diezel's latest firmware in them. If your amp does not have the latest firmware, you can easily get it at no cost to you and it only involves a simple controller chip replacement that takes no more than a few minutes.

The Evolution chips that I've just released make these amps compatible with MIDI CC, and this will allow those who use advanced MIDI controllers that already have "instant access" buttons to take advantage of the level of switching that the Evolution foot switches offer, but from the MIDI controller that they already have. However, your MIDI controller must feature CC compatible instant access buttons in order to take advantage of this. The Voodoo Lab Ground Control Pro, the Rocktron All Access, the Liquid Foot Pro, and the RJM Mastermind are a few controllers that are equipped with this feature.
