another great use, recently brought up on another forum, is running a bass through this. It is supposed to sound great for recording bass direct & might get a video demo

+ bump to get some more people on board

Only 10 days left ... we need to make this happen.

Guys, keep getting the word out! We're getting so close - only 9 days left!

I just finished a demo showing off another feature of the GP/DI - it is a fully-functional all-in-one re-amping solution. When Page was at the factory a couple of weeks ago, I made sure to record the raw parts along with the mic on the cab. Here's what I was able to do with them:

Bump. Guys this is a dream come true piece of gear for me. Really want it to happen.

I am digging the 80% gain tones at 2:25. But at 18k needed in 7 days, it looks like the funding may fall short. I wonder if there is some kind of backup plan if the kickstarter doesn't make it?

Wish I knew. I'm anxious--this amp would likely make me get rid of my Egnater Rebel 20 (a very nice, low cost 20W head), and my Palmer Dacappo.

I'm just amazed at all of the capabilities, and the videos have been top notch at demonstrating them. So many tools that I'd actually use, and everything so far has sounded amazing!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it can do all of the below.

1. Tube DI and Reamp box for bass, guitar, or any other instrument outputs. I'd use this so much it's sickening. Come up with an idea at home, or even silently record my take with drums, then reamp it through one of my bigger amps to get the final sound with the initial, more charged performance. Or even use the 1W amp while doing this so that I can stand by the amp and still get some guitar feedback so that it doesn't sound obvious and clinical.

2. 1W practice amp for playing quietly (or not so quietly!) at home, or recording with gobos/baffles .
3. Tube pre that I can use into another amp's loop return or my 2/90/2. I'd even consider reamping into this rig!
4. Bass pre for getting nice, warm, tubey and/or overdriven bass sounds recorded or live.
5. tube mic pre for niche situations by using the XLR aux in. Could be useful for vocals or even warming up a snare/kick. I'm not expecting Neve type sounds out of it, but you never know what you can achieve.
6. Tube buffer like the Valvulator I for pedal runs and overall increased dynamic control
7. Headphone amp for when everyone else is asleep.
8. 1st stage tandem piece with modelers to get a more "tubey" response.

I could see myself using it for all of the above except maybe #8, though even that's possible with my GSP1101.

I would be extremely disappointed if this project didn't happen.

You aren't wrong!

dirtyfung hit the nail on the head - if you think of the GP/DI as a multi-purpose toolbox instead of just a mini-amp, the possibilities offered its feature set start to become clear, and that feature set starts to really make sense.

I'm going to TRY to get some demos done for Bass, and using the GPDI into a power amp, and into the FX return of my Sig and/or Memphis, and a couple of other things in the next couple of days. In the meanwhile, check out this demo featuring Matt McKenna - people asked about clean response, so here you are!

We've also added a couple of options to the Kickstarter page - you can now get a GPDI with a new-design R112 cab for a bit extra, and/or add a special Kickstarter-only colored front panel in your choice of Purple, Green, or Red. We'd been wanting to add the options for a while, but it took us longer than we thought to make sure they would work out!

Keep watching the Facebook page and the Kickstarter for more videos and other updates - we are ramping up in these last 6 days, addressing everyone's questions and concerns, and trying to show you what the GPDI can really do with some creative thinking!

Less than a week to go ..... The number jumped a lot today. Still have a way to go. But getting closer.

Here's a little more enticement:

I like how great it sounds solo'd too. This is really really tempting!!!

Funded! Mapz for everyone*!

*Who wants to put up a very reasonable $499.

If he only could play the damn song right

Congratulations on missing the point!
In his defense, he didn't know how to play the song before sitting down - he just listened to the riff once and that is what came out. Give a guy a break!

In any case, thank you to all the contributors! Let me know if you have any more questions - I'll keep up with them as best I can!

I'm pretty much done with videos for now, since we are officially funded and I have a ton of work to do to get the GPDI's production underway and the new website details worked out (oops, wasn't supposed to say that).

I'm going to keep the content coming as the production gets underway - there is still plenty left to show (I never did get around to the videos putting it through a Power Amp or into the front end of a clean amp, and I never was able to wrangle anyone to come down with an ERG and do some really heavy tones)!

Also, don't forget that the campaign isn't over yet - this is your last chance to get in at these prices for the GPDI and R112, at least for the foreseeable (2+years) future.

Please, he is butchering a classic under the headline "Van Halen - "I'm the One" - Fryette Valvulator GP/DI Direct Demo"

Should be a lifetime sentence for that. Some would argue the death penalty.

Amp is good BTW. :-)

I bought in, it's pretty much a no brainer -i also went for the faceplate $100 up charge as to maintain the traditional VHT/Fryette aesthetic

Thanks!

There are still 23 hours left to get in on the Kickstarter for the Valvulator GP/DI!

The campaign ends at 3:42 PST 11/05/13.

We'd like to thank everyone who contributed, and everyone who believed in the project - this is the first mainstream musical instrument product to be successfully crowdfunded, and we couldn't have done it without your support!

Don't worry, the content doesn't stop now - there is still plenty left to show about the GP/DI, and I am going to be documenting the whole production process as best I can as we get it ready to ship. Hopefully that way the wait won't be so unbearable!

So how many do you plan on building?

The plan is to build 200 at first.

T-minus 17 hours and 15 minutes!
