I'll take ANY new Mesa over the crap Marshall has been putting out any day. Geez, wasn't it like 1982 when marshall made their last best amp?

The JVM is an amazing amp. The VM,AFD and KK amps are all really good. I been a Mesa fan/user for years but Ill take new Marshall over Mesa for my preferences...

All I know is if I want anything British voiced I don't want any Mesa interpretation or product, at all.

Im usually inclined to think that way but the Mesa Stilletto has always had me wondering. Practically every clip that I have ever heard from that amp ( the second version ) was amazing so much so that I really wanted and still want to try one. It really seemed to have the best of Mesa and Marshall in one package..

One of these days...

"what did the passengers have for dinner?"
"they had two choices...steak or fish"
"ahh yes..I had the Lasagna"

It's a fact that if you take a mesa circuit and put it in a Marshall headshell, it instantly sounds 10x better

Marshall based tone stacks just cut better, fact.

Fact, or opinion?......

thinking.jpg

Lots here would consider that fact.

Depends on how well both/either are dialed in, miked up, and the sound man and the sound system he's running-- too

I may catch some flack for this... but here goes:

I normally use a Mesa Mark V and have had no issues getting it to cut through in a band mix, regardless of if we were at rehearsal or gigs. However, recently it needed to go in for some maintenance so L&M gave me a Marshall Vintage Modern 2466 as a loaner. I've tried those amps in the past and loved them, so I was pretty excited to give it a whirl live. What followed was a decent enough (albeit rather thin) tone that I just COULD NOT HEAR! I had to dime the amp's controls to get it to cut through enough for what I was doing, and by comparison my Mesa rarely ever leaves 11 oclock on the master volume. Normally I picture Marshall amps as cutting through really well, but this experience left a sour taste in my mouth for sure.

Danny appears to be "grumpy" in every post he makes from my perspective............ But hey, I would too if I was from Jersey!

But that same Mark that wasn't all he wanted was all that I wanted. Different strokes I guess....

Did they make a profit last year? All of this tone geek talk is fun for us tone geeks, but the profit question is the only thing that matters to any company, and the only thing that should.

I heard the Vintage Moderns are on the quieter side volume wise for a Marshall, not sure if there's any truth to it or not.
