I didn't know Dan the Mailman like some of you did but I think most of us are still trying to process this. Every time I see his avatar or one of his posts I get choked up. I mean damn, he was three years younger than me but seemingly - has been through so much more in his lifetime. The way his final posts went down is just gut wrenching. To finally realize or absorb that his time was running out so quickly and to take the time to reach out to us? ❤️ ? ❤️

So I decided to make a place for us to post our memories and such. I was hoping to find some of his killer quotes but the search system here does not work that great. But here are some to get us started as well as some epic threads that either he created or was a big part of.

The old timers will remember Ann Landers after Dark. That thread had back and forth bantering for years - Dan was a regular with Nate, Doug, Don, and myself. I learned a lot about Dan in that thread and an old admin deleted it during a server migration because it caused a partition issue. It had almost 100,000 replies in a single thread and was close to 1M views.
 
I've only been here a couple years now and really appreciate the humour guys like Dan put into the threads.
He seemed so level headed, humble and full of wit. Sad looking back on his posts knowing there won't be any new ones. The frustrating and scary part is he was only 51.....same age as me. He will be missed here dearly.
 
I met Dan about 13 years ago here on this forum, he lived an hour or so north or me and we wound up becoming good friends. He was a great guy, better than me for sure and most of the other people that I know. I hadn’t talked to him in a month or so and I was just thinking of giving him a call the other day and I got tied up with something else and didn’t make the call. Now I see this and fuck man, I’m bummed out…RIP Mailman Dan and that hairy ass and daisy dukes :cry: ? ?
 
Many might not know, but Mailman and I had a few forum fights in the early days. A few years later we buried the hatchet and became friends. We would text and shoot the shit about everything. Video games, guitars family, military, etc. I’ve never met him in person, but I consider him a friend and I am grieving from his loss.
 
Known him via this forum for I don't know how many years it's been?..He was truly a hell of a guy and as far as I know..An RT OG like a lot of us well...not so many these days' We'll miss you Dan
 
I liked him instantly when I first interacted with him. He always was so nice and encouraging, telling me I played well, when in fact I sucked, still do.

He really was the glue that held this place together. This is unbelievable.

I am really drunk at a friends place tonight for his 50th with all our spouses here and really appreciating life more because of so many great buddies life getting cut short! Love you guys! Rock on, turn it up and play on! Have a great weekend!

Forgot about Ann Landers lol. The first thing I think of is the hairy ass lol. Dan was always such a friendly, helpful guy and helped me out with tons of questions about various amps he'd tried and I was considering. Damn.
