I don't have enough time to learn this thing. I feel this thing would consume endless days of tweaking and programming then I would get annoyed

you are right from my experience...the AXE is a time eating machine! But to be honest, so were my tube amps now that I think about it. I can't tell you how many hours, days, weeks and months (not to mention money) I've spent swapping out tubes, speakers, cables, cabinets, mics, etc on my tube rigs all in an attempt to find "my tone". In the end, the AXE does consume time but probably overall less than a tube amp...and once you tweak it for "your" tone, then its done. I can't remember the last time I tweaked my AXE...I got 20 patches and I just plug in and play.

That said, I still love tube amps and I'll always own several...its fun to have several amps in the arsenal to putz around with and to get a change of pace with now and again...stave's off boredom. But I can't see gigging live with tube amps any more (though I've learned to never say never)...the AXE tone and feel is just as good - in fact better IMO - thru FOH and far more consistent and convenient.

Not only do I NOT have gas for the AxeFx, every clip I've heard gives me indigestion.

Never really had GAS for one but did want to check one out. Well, I did, and now I can say that I have no desire whatsoever for an Aex Fx. Some people have them and make them sound great. I built my own patches from scratch with only amp and cab sims when going direct into ProTools and only with amp sims when going through a power amp. To me, it's a tweaker's nightmare, you might never stop tweaking the thing. I also think there is a bit of snake oil there with the transformer types and tube bias parameters. I know people will argue with me on that, it's just my opinion. There is no doubt that they can sound good, I have heard some great clips, but it took me an hour to get a decent hi gain tone out of one, I just don't have that kind of patience!  Like the poster above said, it took him 2 months to fully get the tones he was looking for...I can't do that!

My thoughts about it exactly. Great piece but I'm just too ADD for the thing. I was constantly messing with parameters and I realized I was going to sink way more money than wanted by trying FR possibilities and let alone the cost of a Liquid Foot Jr plus a few other pieces to complete the rig. It was turning into a money and time pit. Cool piece that has great effects, good tones for all digital and does very good direct recorded tones but live it wasn't cutting it for me so I let it go.

Honestly for the digital modeling thing, I had more fun and was getting better live tones with the Spider Valve MkII.

I have GAS for an AXE FX ULTRA.

Oh this is a no GAS for AXE FX ULTRA thread

Yeah "Mr. My Axe doesnt sound as good live since I tried the SV MkII."  I do dig the M13 though and had no idea I would like the MKII. If Brian hadn't told me to take it home and mess with it I would never have given it a second thought. If I was to say I was a fan of any gear... I'd say Bogner amps.

Yeah, but that's because I haven't dialed it in right...haven't you heard?

Greetings All !
hey this is joe B and my son Romeo, we are new to the AXE experience, we have been learning a great deal from these forums and youtube, and we really enjoy the AXE ! we thank all the folks posting for helping us decide on the Fractal, and guiding us on its use.
Currently our Rig includes an Ultra, thru a Carvin TS 100 and a Carvin 4x12, on each channel. it seems like this is all balls , no brains ! we need something more efficient, and even better sounding.
here is our question:
this setup is fine, but I figure that we should explore following the FRFR concept completely, for maximimum performance.
i find that I need to turn off the Amp Simms, and Cab simms for many of the patches, as it just doesn't sound right.
my idea is to run the axe thru an ART VLA 2 and then into 2 2x12 50 reactors, and then eventually add 2 atomic FR's.
my thought is that i would use the VLA, not so much for compression, but just for the mild DB gain, and really as a controller for the reactors, so that we would not have to reach behind 2 or 4 cabs to adjust volume, we could just set all the volumes in a fixed position, and manage these reactors with the VLA . one question is, will we be assured that all of the Amp and Cab simms will be useable with the VLA2, will there be any expected conflict w/ the Tube gain stage of the VLA? will this exceed the maximum input tolerances of the reactors, and would there be any other potential conflicts with this setup that we haven't thought of ? also I would like to install in the Rack the Samson D-1500, D-2500, and D-3500.
we look forward to any of you folks responding to our questions, and thanks in advance for your advice.
Groovy ! joe B
