The older I get the more I appreciate the Stratocaster

Yeah a strat have always been my NO.1 guitar, my very first heroes were Blackmore and Yngwie so I got it in with the mothers milk so to say. While I have been messing around with humbuckers for years and years and still do, I got to have a nice strat.
Finally got my dream strat the other day, first edition 88' Fender YJM.... :)

A strat is what I started on and just feels right to me. I have no issues with putting a humbucker in the bridge of a strat either. :)

Love me a humbucker in a Stratocaster! Suhr Aldrich.

I have a Suhr Aldrich pickup I just took out of my LP custom. The problem with putting it in my fat strat is I already have an Anderson H2+ I really like. I could put it in my MIM strat (2 BL L280s and a hot rails in the bridge), but I would have to get a new pickguard. Tempting....

LOVE that color! :inlove:

I have the similar Candy Cola in a newer American Stratocaster. Beautiful.

Interesting thread. I've never got on well with Fender strats, but do get along with ESP superstrats. That being said, there's a lot of potency when someone like Yngwie says "the Fender Strat is the Stradivarius of guitars" or Keef saying "Leo and Les got 'em right over 50 years ago, nuthin' needs changing".

Blix, you work much on that trampoline or is it for the kids? :student:

I agree!!! Nothing like a Fender Strat. Even the old Japanese and Mexican Strats are nice.

I do Yngwie moves combined with double twisting somersaults

Nah, I leave it to the kids. :)

Yep that is one killer Strat!!!!!

who makes the best after market scalloped neck for a strat these days?
i'd love a wider unfinished maple neck , but not too baseball batty thick.

I bought an American Special a couple of years ago. Satin neck, 70's style headstock, and Texas Specials. Every time I think I need to swap the bridge pickup to a humbucker I play the guitar for a few minutes and that thought quickly subsides. I have other strats with humbuckers (Air Norton S and Fast Track 2 being my favorite) in the bridge but the power and articulation of the Texas Special bridge is just too good!!

Clips!

I also agree. Time and time again I say to myself that my Fender strats feel more natural in my hands than any other guitar. There's something about the neck shape and scale length that just works for me. Both my strats are HSS configured with JB's in the bridge due to the music I play. I truly believe that they are the best all around guitar with the ability to handle any type of music......as witnessed throughout the years.

Here's one.........

I heard the Fender rep talking to my friend, a metal guitarist, "when you're older, I'll get you on a Fender." haha

Thank you! I've wanted one ever since the ads in Guitar Playter back in 88-89'.
I finally cracked to code to make the HS-3's sing as well, so now I'm really stoked, first guitar ever I don't need to change out a thing on! :)

Yeah, I would hit this John Cruz, Masterbuilt 60's Strat in seafoam green for the right price.

Super Strat - absolutely.
Fender Strat - not so much.

I bought one a couple of years ago because I thought I needed one. They've sold millions of them and everyone who is anyone plays them. Who am I to question the logic, right? Truth is, I just can't gel with it. I keep trying to like it, but...

***sigh***

Collective sigh for the former metalheads and shredders around here admitting theyre all getting older and prefer the simplicity of the blues....
