To be honest, I haven't even flipped it to the clean channel yet and couldn't give two shits what it sounds like. Not needed for me, and for all intents and purposes, it could have been left off....... So, a clean channel is not a deal breaker for me. Rolling the volume back on a gain channel though, I expect the amp to respond in kind, and it does. I did dial it up on the crunch mode of the Channel 1 though, and it is very cool and most authentic. I've owned a few multi-channel amps for several years without even listening to the clean channel.

Steve

I should have made myself alittle more clear :D I should have said crunch mode on the clean channel with the gain dimed

The Avenger is a SLO with no clean channel. I think it's lead channel is a little better because it is not being loaded down by the clean channel.

that is a good set up too. especially if you have HB's with split coil wiring. sounds cool as shit for some variety.

Mike will build a custom SLO-O (Overdrive Only). All point to point and same iron as the SLO, same chassis, grill, style, etc. I will most definitely go this route.

(2) SLO's are better than one!! :)

I have an "Overdrive Only" SLO and a standard SLO with 3-options. The Depth and FX Loop bypass switch are a must have! Half power switch changes tone an feel as well. I've wasted thousands of dollars on most all other amps and always come back to the SLO....It's the king of the boutiques for me! Crunch channel is great as well. One of the best "blues tones" with a single coil neck pickup.

BTW... JLB (Lynn Burke) at Blues City Music is the ONLY dealer to buy Soldano's from. He is the best!!! :)

:inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: Instant WOOD! That is a very nice set up there man.

Lynn is who I bought mine from and he will sort me out a custom SLO, exactly you just posted. Was just bouncing emails with him.

Steve

Very cool! Tell Lynn "hey" from Bryan G! If you have any questions about the Overdrive Only feel free to call me....Lynn has my number. Mine started out as a "dual Overdrive", but I sent it back to Soldano to make it an "Overdrive Only" with footswitchable master volumes. This thing has more punch and gain than a standard SLO. I keep the preamp on 4 and its plenty of gain for solos!

Ah shit let Flyangus and Mrdan666 demonstrate some SLO, this fawning and typing aint doing shit for me......................

FlyingAngus is a beast, your results may differ

Yep, that is exactly what I am after and figured this is how Mike would suggest set it up with the dual, FS masters. That is the road I am headed down.

Sounds perfect .... if I want clean I have amps for that. Besides my guitars have a volume knob on them.

Steve--If I may be so bold--pocket some of the cash, buy a Jet City JCA100HDM, and A/B it against the SLO. You may be surprised at how close they are, and if you hate it, easy enough to flog and return to original program. My JCA's are getting RAVE reviews for their tone (straight in with either a Super3-equipped Vintage RG, or a Les Paul) and I'm getting ready to buy another one or two, even with the problems I've had getting that wacky metal grille for my 100H. Just great-sounding amps at an incredible price point.

Cheers,

SLO for the masses! I've sort of lean toward you get what you pay for, and the Soldono inspired JCA really doesn't interest me at all. Good luck with your grill though

Yes this is what I do too. And it cleans up well with the volume knob.
