TIL Randall is still in business making amps

I like my old Randall’s, and my little 1w head is amazing that I paid I think $150 on one of the sdotd, but yeah I don’t think I’d be looking at any kind of new Randall these days. I just think that company had a stigma of being metal amps that the average consumer just wasn’t going to go near. Had any other company came out with the module amps 25 years ago which now everyone loves with synergy it would have taken off

I love randalls, but I think their reputation for cheap solid state stuff was a boat anchor, and raising their prices so much killed it dead.

If they still had Thrasher 50's for a grand they would be bigger than anyone except fender, marshall, boogie, and BAD.

Dude the tube RG100ES that’s so rare would sell like hotcakes and be killer mod platforms. So many people love the RG100ES as well. I don’t get how they could be struggling having those in their bank of circuits people would fight over.

They hired Fortin and the prices that followed definitely did them in after being in the solid state game for as long as they have.

I know if I ever left Providence Cables..................and yeah they asked me to join Randall, like yeah I would reissue the Rg100ES with the carpet covering....

Metal guys would eat that shit up..... 🤷‍♂️

Amps: Bad Cat Lynx 50, Fender Princeton Reverb Reissue Bordeaux, Vox AC15C1
Guitars: Fenders, Charvels, Kramers and Les Pauls

Randall's a joke. Displaying amps that came out in 2013, made in China and prices are insane. The Trasher 50 went from $999 to $2199.
Pretty much this. I would have been interested in checking out a Thrasher if they didn't jack the price for no good reason.

It's so stupid, both tube and solid state they've had a million great circuits

But just like peavey, they can't fucking help but shoot themselves in the foot over and over again

It's infuriating because it seems like these companies are run by complete morons who have no knowledge of the industry their bread is buttered in - Randall, or Peavey for that matter, could hire the average rig-talker as a special advisor; and if they actually listened they would make money hand over foot. It's always so fucking obvious. Like, how long did it take Peavey to rerelease the original 5150? Then when they finally did it was too little too late.

It makes me want to strangle these people who work at these companies. Someone like you or I would tell randall "reissue the tube 100ES, make it in vietnam or china or whatever but make it mod-friendly and use high quality components for under 1500$" and the fucking morons would print money.

Supposedly Cort just bought them and "released" what they already had on hand. Hopefully someone there has two brain cells to rub together to be immediately working to make an RG100ES preamp into even just a class D power amp (or a tube amp like the RGT100ES)

That's what happens when you put corporate bureaucrats that have no idea how the industry works at the helm

A mod friendly tube RG100T with both rack and head options with updated effects loops and solo masters under 1500 would sell so hard I guarantee it would have fender begging James Brown to come back to bail them out because it would tank the entire iconic line.

Why on earth they’re struggling I have no idea.

Another winner would be quality birch 4x12’s preloaded with metal grills and eminence karnivores. I’d buy two straights tomorrow.

That's when they become lifestyle brands, making refrigerators and mini bluetooth speakers, and use transformers from Vietnam in Made in England reissue amps... :dunno:

It really is, I throw my Mesa 5 band in the loop and a couple boosts and I’d really need nothing else for home playing. Records easy too. I can also use it as a 1w power amp with the loop as well which is cool

I believe MAAH answered that:

That's how it is for every enthusiast industry like this, im guessing. I often wonder who the fuck these people are because they constantly make pants-shittingly retarded decisions. Like over and over and over.

We've watched it happen a million times over and it never fails

They had that funky shaped RG pedal or whatever you want to call it a few years ago that I remember no discussion of at all

Harley-Davidson is a great example of this IMO.

Another executive suite focused on becoming a lifestyle brand, led by people that know nothing about the actual lifestyle of the customers of the brand

Awhile back I was interested in a RG3003H when they were $899 new, lost interest at $1299 new, then they disappeared.

well, Ola found one in the NAMM 2026 booth. So there's one new one out there at least.

Harley Davidson is even worse though they went woke - like Gillette, etc

Randall and Peavey didn't even sell their soul to marxists, they're just incompetent

Back in the 90's Peavey dominated the solid state market and made pretty decent stuff at a reasonable price. Everyone back then had a Peavey in their lineup. They also had the 6505, JSX and XXX as reasonably priced tube amps that all sounded damn good. Yeah, they still have the 6505 line keeping the afloat, but I'm still scratching my head on why they're not dominating the market with a large line of affordable amps. They would definitely have the brand recognition on their side. Complete incipience by leadership.
