Hey guys

I was at Tone Merchants about a month ago and had a chance to play all of Dave's amps. I totally agree with Brad in that the Marsha is an unbelievable amp. By far, the best Marshall type tones I have heard.

Dave has really nailed it with this one.

Question about this amp. It has been said by previous owners to have the Cantrell mod but there is no switch for it (HBE, Modern, and SAT only). One of the owners (Mark) said he thought it was simply built in to the amps overall voicing and that he would send me emails with Dave stating that but after a couple requests he never did and I don't want to be a PITA. Can anybody verify if this truly has that mod and if so, at what settings (HBE, Modern?). I love the amp but I'd like to know what the actual voicing is as I've never played another one to compare. Thanks

You guys realize this is a year old thread right? In other words, it's one of those most incredible amps ever..........that's been sold, modded, will probably be sold again, etc, etc. :D

Yeah, old thread...just trying to get an answer.

I borrowed a Friedman that had a JBE switch as well as a BE. JBE meant Jerry Brown Eye, BE of course Brown Eye. I would think it should have a JBE if it is a Jerry Brown Eye.

Nothing changed except the brand/model, all the words around it stay the same.

I'd be curious to know if Brad's opinion of the Marsha still holds up after all this time has past? Its like, 100 years in "amp owning" time,

I share Brad's opinion of the Marsha/Brown Eye head... based on the JMR/Tone Merchants clips that are floating around the net, I am convinced that Dave Friedman builds one of the BEST sounding Marshall type amps for modded high gain tones out there. I have yet to actually play one, but it is very rare that a clip of an amp would move me to say such a thing (the only other clip that's done this to me was Curt's Splawn Quick Rod clip with a Charvel SoCal guitar).
