How does the Marsha compare to a Splawn QR? Both seem to be the pissed off Marshall tones.
No HBE on that one. Just the c45/BE and Cantrell with the Fat, and Saturation switches. THe Saturation switch has JBE written on it as it needs to be engaged in JBE mode to be the Cantrell mod.danyeo":11pdojc4 said:I'm borrowing a Friedman modded amp and i dig it, it's got the BE, HBE, JBE, Saturation switch and a Fat switch. Makes sense to me. The amp I sent Dave was a high end amp with good iron, and he ended up changing much of the components that the manufacturer used as they were not to his preference. I have a feeling this particular amp would hold up quite well to the real deal as I think all but the iron is is to his spec/liking.rareguitar":2s4844n5 said:danyeo":2s4844n5 said:I'm borrowing a Friedman modded amp and i dig it, it's got the BE, HBE, JBE, Saturation switch and a Fat switch. In my experience the modded amp is not as good as the ground up Marsha. Dave can only do so much with the stock components. When he gets to choose them all it comes together. That said I haven't played one of Mikes amps but I hear great things!

This is relevant to my interests also. I think most will say Marsha but is it really $1200 better???

I'm not Brad, but I've played all those amps -- and I have a Marsha on the way. All those amps are outstanding; comparing them, IMO, is akin to comparing apples and oranges and whatever your other favorite fruit is. I currently also have a Bogner Uber and I'm going to get either a 20th XTC or Fish as well.Nico":3hobhc0b said:Brad congratulations,
Have you ever tried a PT-100 or 20th Anniversary XTC? How do you like those amps?
Does the Marsha sound good at low volumes, as say a Diezel does?
Thanks!

Just realized that after i got done playing it tonight.
As far as Fortin versus Friedman versus Cameron....everyone has their own taste and these 3 style amps all kill. I have 3 in my basement right now and I'm telling you, i could be happy with any of them. Yes, there are differences, the Cali has a boatload of gain and grind but also pretty tweakable. The Friedman has this really sweet thick organic tone that is really addictive to play on. The Cameron is a really pissed off sounding Marshall. So, you can't go wrong with any of them. Just see which one has the price, availability, options, etc. One of these amps doesn't "own" the others, they're all great.
