What the fuck does Wolf's weight have to do with anything?
He got fat again and I have a silly sense of humor. That is all.

Again not sure what his weight has to do with that performance other than to give you a reason to make fun of him.

Not to critique, but Dave chews gum and has his hands in his pockets a lot. Not very front man control. Nerves maybe from lack of rehearsal? He is still flexible for his age though. That's good. Eddie and band excellent

I love eddies tone on this ....... makes me think I need a 5153.

If I had a $$ for every horrible sounding "live" singer I'd be a rich man

No shit! I'd like to know since when has DLR ever been known for his vocal prowess.

Looks like he struck a nerve. Playing live and on TV has a VISUAL aspect to it as well as audio. So someone's appearance DOES have something to do with his "performance" IMHO.

Not to mention his HEALTH!

I'm guessing a bit of cocaine maybe...he does have that nervous energy.

He needs to play the blue channel.. way too much gain on the rythms in my opinion..

DLR is doing the Vince Neil thing, every fourth word gets thrown in with a lot of WOOO and HOOOOOOS And YEAAHHHHs.

No way a guy like that would get nervous of doing the same shtick after 30 + years.. he just sounds like shit and knows he is sounding like shit.

He'd get that tweaky, nervous vibe after snorting a few grams of coke before a gig.

The whole performance was a little let down for me, not just DLR's singing. I agree that Ed has way to much distortion going on. You can tell when he tries to clean his tone up in the verse of Running with the devil. It' doesn't happen. They also seem to come of the beat a few times as well, enough to give a shaky impression. Visually.. Ed is looking best.

I think Ed looks more fit and trim than he did in his 5153 demo video, right?

Man, tough crowd. DLR has never been a great singer, but that was never what he was about. He does his thing like no body else can. Band sounds great. I miss Michael Anthony, sure. But, they're having fun, people seem to dig it. I thought the last VH studio album rocked. Some of you guys take this stuff too seriously, IMHO.
As usual, you are right on every point.

As far as Roth's performance goes, he's just doing what DLR does... Entertaining people to the best his current abilities will permit. I always thought of DLR as this sort of a kooky, Liberace type character... What I love about Dave, is that smile on his face is 100% genuine! This man was born to entertain... No question about it. I loved Sammy with Montrose up to All Night Long. The "Van Hagar" era stuff was just too "chicky" sounding for me. What the band does now is a non-issue for me.

I also love the last studio album, though I don't especially care for his new guitar tone.

DLR didn't sound great but I don't care. I don't expect him to perform like it was 1979 nor do i expect it from the rest of the band (excluding Wolf). It is what it is and I am somewhat okay with who they are now. As long as they have a good time and it translates to the populous I'm good. If I want technical brilliance I look elsewhere.

wow, worse than i expected. that seems like they probably shouldnt have done it.

Mic up Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang, hit record. Let them do some impromptu jams. Release the best of.

I'd buy it in a second.
