for my D60, b standard tuning with Blackouts. anyone have experience with both of these and know the difference? i havent been able to play either, but found a VHT Fatbottom cab. guys asking $750

I am interested in this as well.
I wonder how a Fatbottom would sound with my Triple Rec??

I predict that people on here will say you should use the mesa recto cabs with a recto, as that's what they told me a couple months ago when i asked.

I'm curious as well as I have several Fryette heads.

can do way better than $750, check used gear on Guitar Centers website, they often have used Fryette cabs for under $500. Just have to check regularly. You gotta pay taxes on em but they charge shipping on used stuff based on price not size and it's cheap for shipping a cab. If you don't like the cab within 30 days take it back to any guitar center.

The VHT Fatbottom cabinet is the only 412 I liked enough to buy twice. I sold the first one after changing the speakers, and immediately regretted it, so I got another one. I sold that one last month though, using 212s mostly now. I've had other cabinets but after being sold, not really wanted them again even though some sounded great, but my interest was satisfied. The only thing about Fatbottoms is that the P50Es aren't great with all amplifiers. To be honest, they are the only Eminence speakers I've ever liked, but didn't always work for me and I didn't like them with a Dual Rectifier.

Fryette make incredible cabs. And before you get too jazzed on selling the P50e's that they come stock with, make sure you break 'em in and give 'em a try.

I went Deliverance, and cannot imagine being happier with a stock 4x12.

I have a d412 and its simply amazing. Very interested in trying a fb.

I swapped out the P50 for the 30/75 and it kills but again i want to try a fb.

Dont pay more than 500-600 for either. They can be had for less

Six X and Ultralead thru a splawn slant with greenbacks next to a good no name 4x12 with EVH greenbacks. Simply killer with both heads.

cool, was just curious what was lacking that you would be looking for in a VHT/Fryette cab

Nothing lacking just the nature of the disease :D

I have slant VHT FB 4x12 with the p50e's and its perfectly suited to use with the VHT 50CL I have. Great sounding cab. I'd buy a Fryette cab myself if I had a D60.

I played my old triple through the FB cab and it really tightened up the sound, almost like running a boost

I would be interested in the Deliverance cab and how it differs from the Fat bottom

I've owned both for over 6 years...Here is my take on them....

The Fatbottom is very lazor beam like, extremely focused, and will not fart out for ANYTHING. I mean, I had my Diezel Herbert cranked through that thing once and it didn't even hiccup. It is a definitely a lazor beam. Some like this, some don't. You hear it from one side, then walk in front of it: You will KNOW when you are right in front of it, trust me. Super tight bottom end, extremely clear, and focused, just an overall great cabinet.

The Deliverance: The D is very similar to the Fatbottom, however sounds much bigger, fills the room MUCH more. It isn't AS tight in the bottom end as the Fatbottom, however, it is still INFINITELY tighter than any cab mesa, marshall, orange etc has ever made. You feel this cabinet much more in the room, more thump to it in the sub bass frequencies. Again, still extremely tight and focused, just fills the room more, and not nearly as lazor beam like. Fryette/VHT describes this as a more "vintage" cabinet...ehh, maybe, I've used it with the rig below (hardly considered vintage sounding lol) for 6 or 7 years, and I don't hear a "vintage" quality in it, other than it isn't as tight as the fatbottom...

At the end of day, I like the Deliverance cab more. For playing with a band etc in a normal size room, this cabinet disperses better, and is not nearly as directional. However, the fatbottoms bottom end is absolutely killer, it is hard to beat. I actually owned one of each for a long time, and used them both, together, and for different things.

These cabs under a mic sound virtually identical in my opinion. You would be hardpressed to tell them apart in a mix period. What is really amazing about these cabs is that they have the same speakers, are frontloaded, and eerily similar, yet they disperse there sound and sound completely different in a room. Now, to me, the TONE is exactly the same in both cabs. The highs, mids etc, all sound pretty much the same, it is just a matter of how the sound is thrown at the audience is different. Hope that helps.

thx, that helps alot. sounds like deliverance is the way to go for me. i don't like beamy cabs, although it would be nice to tighten up the bottom end playing in such a low tuning.
