Here's a Fryette tech's take on the matter - from back when I was deciding on the 2:hellaboogie":1woirsvp said:I would be interested in the Deliverance cab and how it differs from the Fat bottomVentura":1woirsvp said:Fryette make incredible cabs. And before you get too jazzed on selling the P50e's that they come stock with, make sure you break 'em in and give 'em a try.
I went Deliverance, and cannot imagine being happier with a stock 4x12.

The Fatbottom is very lazor beam like, extremely focused, and will not fart out for ANYTHING. I mean, I had my Diezel Herbert cranked through that thing once and it didn't even hiccup. It is a definitely a lazor beam. Some like this, some don't. You hear it from one side, then walk in front of it: You will KNOW when you are right in front of it, trust me. Super tight bottom end, extremely clear, and focused, just an overall great cabinet.
The Deliverance: The D is very similar to the Fatbottom, however sounds much bigger, fills the room MUCH more. It isn't AS tight in the bottom end as the Fatbottom, however, it is still INFINITELY tighter than any cab mesa, marshall, orange etc has ever made. You feel this cabinet much more in the room, more thump to it in the sub bass frequencies. Again, still extremely tight and focused, just fills the room more, and not nearly as lazor beam like. Fryette/VHT describes this as a more "vintage" cabinet...ehh, maybe, I've used it with the rig below (hardly considered vintage sounding lol) for 6 or 7 years, and I don't hear a "vintage" quality in it, other than it isn't as tight as the fatbottom...
At the end of day, I like the Deliverance cab more. For playing with a band etc in a normal size room, this cabinet disperses better, and is not nearly as directional. However, the fatbottoms bottom end is absolutely killer, it is hard to beat. I actually owned one of each for a long time, and used them both, together, and for different things.
These cabs under a mic sound virtually identical in my opinion. You would be hardpressed to tell them apart in a mix period. What is really amazing about these cabs is that they have the same speakers, are frontloaded, and eerily similar, yet they disperse there sound and sound completely different in a room. Now, to me, the TONE is exactly the same in both cabs. The highs, mids etc, all sound pretty much the same, it is just a matter of how the sound is thrown at the audience is different. Hope that helps.
