I just wasn't blown away like I was expecting to be. I played the Blackstar on a whim and it sounded killer. Opinions, taste, etc.

Was it at GC?

Do Blackstar amps sound better at GC?

It's unusual for any amp to be in shape to sound good at GC. Do you live in BFE?

Nope, we just don't have any GCs around here

the amp definitely didn't suck or anything but it was not what I expected. I have heard all kinds of "hype" about VHT/Fryette stuff and being this is the 1st one I have played, I expected to be floored

What kind of tones are you looking for? I absolutely love my D60/D412 rig.

I play Death, Thrash, Doom/Stoner

I'm most familiar with thrash of those types. Hot rodded Marshall territory?

I have gotten some "function tips" on these amps and am going to go back for a 2nd run at it.

I got one in mint condition on Craigslist about 9 months ago for... $600. I ended up using it in a trade later since I just needed a channel switcher. Great sounding amp, regardless of the guitar put through it.

I got extremely lucky on that deal though.

And @maddnotez... wow, I guess we are completely different here. I run a reverb, delay, phaser, and chorus through the loop on my UL and I find the UL and Classic's series loops amazing and a huge part of why I love these amps. But then again, while I delve towards metal, I'm on the more psychedelic side of things (think Mastodon).
