Okay...Zach....you need to tell me about this Dual Tap Tempo thingee that Bob built for you please......I think I need one for my G-Force and Eclipse...
I started about three years ago trying to tap both these units with one button...One unit is latching and the other isnt...got a midi mapper that didnt do it.......finally moved on to other things.
Is it just a little box with midi in and outs?

The tap tempo box serves a couple of purposes. It is a tap tempo control for the 2290, and the H8000 separately, feeding each via a TRS plug, that goes from the tap tempo box to the rack interface and is hard wired from the rack switcher to the processors. (the units are not locked together via time clock) it's also a power supply for the Wah.

The snake that feed the interface deals with:

NAMM%20pics%20022.jpg

The reason I didn't want to have one tap tempo switch for everything is because I imagined wanting to set the delay time of one unit to say 375mS and another unit to be running a chorus, univibe or something like that and wanted independent control of those rates.

You may need to sync the MIDI clocks of both units using one as the master, in order to do what you want. Best of luck with it.

I imagine you could call Dave Phillips, at LA Sound Design, and he could build something like that for you.

Damn it Youri the D-Two is freaking around $450 :gethim:

Shop around, look 2nd hand, they can be had for much less. I once bought a D-Two and 1210 for about $600. Didn't care for the 1210 and sold it for $650. $50 and a free D-Two.

Wish I never sold my D-Two though   It's probably the best delay-unit behind the 2290.

Lexicon MPX1 can be had for about 300, does great pitch shifting AND reverb AND delays. SPX90, also pretty cheap, got mine ultra-cheap for $25 (bought 2 for $175, sold 1 for $150   ). The SDX330 is harder to find but usually goes cheap as well. RSP550, which I have also does great modulations and is also cheap. A lot of the old Roland stuff sounds great but has to be run in parallal/thru a mixer.

Well I need to shop where you are cause I did score a MPX-1 for $300 but that was a freak accident and have not seen that since! Yeah the SPX90s are cheap, any differences in that and the SPX90II?

I plan on a mixer

SPX90II just has longer delays which you won´t be using anyway. As a good mixer, look at the Rane SM26B, they are nice, you´ll need to split your signal as well. If you want all in one, there are less possibilities.

Ive tried both and I love both amps. they are both winners Dan. The CCV has less gain then the CCM and it is voiced a bit differently (I can actually hear it on the clips)
I will own both for sure. The reason why Im going for the higher gain version is because I will be playing more stuff that is in that realm. That said, they both kill hence my gas for both brother!

Very cool!!!

Im still on the fence about it for now.. not sure which to go for, but leaning more towards the CCV, but il give Mark a call and hopefully he can steer me towards the right direction

Hey Scottie i just setup my good ol faithful Boogie MKIII Wet/Dry rig, with the CAE 4x4 switcher and CAE dual stereo line mixer and G-major. The G major sounds much better to my ears when run thru the mixer.. i setup some killer Huff/Luke style patches with huge verb/pitch/delay and it sounds awesome!!

NOICE! Man since I am a sauce junkie I have to play wet / dry now, sounds so freaking good.

Likewise, it sounds huge and feels so good to play through!!!

Im strongly considering selling the G-major and getting a D-two for mod delays, an SPX-90 for pitch, and maybe a Roland SRV-2000 for reverb. With those units running thru the mixer in parallel and used in the W/D/W rig, i think it would sound pretty awesome...

Sounds like a plan Dan!

IF you can find one for around $350 you have to try the Lexicon MPX-1 for the verbs! I am not as schooled as others in this thread but IMO the verbs on that unit are awesome!!!! I do not miss my G-Major one bit

D. The Soundman out front in a big arena has a bigger, more expensive rack than you do, and can add effects to your mix.

E. Big, expensive, racks = more things to cart around, plug in, and go wrong.
(Ask Zakk Wylde about that one....)

F. Big racks are great for bragging rights. (...If you have a wee willie!)

G. So you bought that $5k rack for how many effects? Three?

...That being said, I had a nice, big, rack full of expensive stuff that has sat in stoarge for the past 13 years. I went back to pedals because:

1) Less things to go wrong, and they're easier to diagnose and take off line.
....More practical.

2) Rather than a "Swiss Army Knife" rack effect that flanges, phases, slices, & dices, (each in a medicore way), one pedal can create a distinctive sound.

3) Putting them in line in front of your Amp is a bit more direct sounding than in a internal effects loop.

4) You can get too carried away with adding effects with a rack; your sound gets "wetter" & loses punch.

....Many of the reasons pedals became popular again. Rack stuff is great for the studio, but live playing can be rather raw.Big racks can be like a tit on a whale.

Fact: the audience is usually more interested in your stage clothes, guitar, and playing, than if you turned your reverb>flanger>phase patch on...

Ok, I'm sorry, who's smoking Crack??!? Big racks are like anything else, a Fkng tool to be used to make music, depending solely on need and usage... Some guys reqire more versatility in their gear. PEDALS!!?? UHHH!!! dinstinctive sound?? you mean No Subtlety? you mean like Shit without a mixer??!?? in line vs the loop? no xtra noise, right?? what if I want more than the 'one trick pony' on/off aspect of a fkn pedal, and I dont wanna do a fkn TAP DANCE like an idiot between changes??? Less things to go wrong?? I've got it down to a 6 space, the head, a 2x12 and the GCX. sound too big 2 carry ??? or am I compensating for my hammer that this setup blows the fkn doors off my former pedalboard.... Geeez.... Somebody get me a fkn asprin..... :bash: DIK....

IMHO, Yeah, its AWESOME for verb. for Recording.... I love it for that basic proprietary PCM-80 chip they have in the thing... problem is it wont switch on the fly like the Xpression, Major, Intellefex, etc... NO good for live use unless you plan on running at least on other fx unit, which begs the question, Why, if your forced 2 use something in conjunction with it to cover up the switching limitation.... or, when live with a full band runnin, who is it thats really listening to the stark, attention getting, amazing depth of your... Reverb?....

Lag time is big with the MPX-1 yes it is true

Other than my weekly jams not playing out so no biggie for me right now anyways, this is for personnel pleasure :D May pick up an intelliflex later on for that.

A bunch of Indie kids, purist Nazi's and ignorant morons. Their mantra is, Rack is whack. Many of them say they like to play their pedals. Check out the thread, and read some of the ignorant angry crap that they spew. Their level of illiteracy is astounding.
