Can't answer for Wayne, but I was working at Line 6 when Katrina hit and we went through the L6 forums to find affected members in the area and we sent out lots of amps, PODs and pedals to the victims that were part of the community. At that time, I had friends at Schecter, , ESP, Fender, Roland and others that were doing the same thing.

So companies do help. There's a lot of music companies that donate instruments to school music programs, charity events, scholarship awards etc
