We got a Kirk Hammett solo on Megadeth album

Or honestly most of Metalica's albums. Metalica's original ride the lightning sounds like it was recoded in a garbage can and mixed by muppets. The remaster made the garbage can louder.
I heard some deep metal lore that said it RTL was mixed by an elusive figure known only as "Master of Muppets."

I guess I'll consider this cover a nice reminder that there was a time when KH didn't use wah on every solo. Still a meh KH level solo, but the lack of wah is refreshing.

And, Reb having to learn a KH solo is just funny to me. Let's get Steve Vai to lay down the rhythm tracks on a Ramones cover.

Just listened. I like the faster second half of the song in that Megadeth version. The drums have a great, tight sound, and all of those parts sound tighter together. The verses I still think Metallica is better and I don't like Dave's vocal

Kinda fun I guess, although unnecessary.

Makes me sad 😞 because it reminds me, Kirk used to be a solid, interesting guitar player. Both he and Lars forgot how to play their instruments after the bloated Black album tour, the tour that stole Metallica's soul.....

But it has to be said, there is no WAY Mustaine would have come up with solos as interesting as the ones Kirk did on that album in 1984. Kirk did a great job!

Yes Uzi, it does remind me that Kirk was quite different back in 1984-1989.

Ive listened to the track a few times. All this cover of RTL did was further illuminate the clear gap between a good band and a great one. The primary factor being Hetfield. Solid effort by Dave here, but it lacks the character, attitude and extrodinary vibe of the original. Just my thoughts.

No feel at all.Production sounds like somebody recorded it at home.Vocals? Well it’s Dave and has always sucked in that department.

Glad I listened, probably a one and done for me with this one. Everything I’ve heard off this album so far seems like he should have left it on the shelf. Hope Dave enjoys his retirement.

I'd almost rather hear a band record an album in their garage with a vintage tape machine. Just seems like all these newer recordings sound too similar in production. Or maybe I feel this way because I was born in 1980. The guitars tone sounds kind of shitty on RTL, but they had some uniqueness and character.

I've listened a few times since yesterday. It has grown a bit and overall I'm glad The Dave did it, although wish he would have done this in the '90s or at least early '00s. It's fun to listen to, and that's what matters.

I probably haven't listened to the Ride album in 20+ years ( ), but listened to it many times back in the day and still have it memorized. I listen more to KEA and MOP these days and have recorded many covers from each, although one of my faves that I've done is The Call of Ktulu (comically misspelled...).

Why, Dave, why?
Pointless cover with horrible vocals. Get over it already, man…

Megadeth can cover Metallica, but can Metallica cover Megadeth? Are they capable? Could Metallic even play Holy Wars?

Kirk would probably shit his pants and quit playing all together if he had to cover leads on anything from Rust in Peace. :ROFLMAO:
