"We Lost Our Identity" - Inside Peavey’s Return to Roots

American companies moved production out of the US to increase their profits exactly as Ross Perot warned the American workers prior to the passage of NAFTA. This was passed by the Uniparty and the US hemorrhaged manufacturing jobs from 1994 onward. I don't agree with Charvel Dan on much but he is correct about greed driving the loss of manufacturing in the USA.

Yeah, but that isn't saying much and isn't some revelation. Greed pretty much drives every fucked up thing that's ever happened on the planet. And trying to lay it soley on the GOP is something only a fucking idiot would try to do.

Crazy, who signed NAFTA? Who made the trade deals WITH china that shipped all the jobs out?

Hmm i wonder who that was. Must have been a greedy republican

I started buying amps in the 1978, and in that time I've owned a bunch of Peaveys.

Pacer (First amp I ever bought. It was brand spankin' new.)

4 Triumph combos, 1 Triumph head (Why so many Triumphs? That's life. All those amps kicked ass)

5150 combo

Triple X head.

Your statement about greed it 100% true and that transcends political parties. You'll note that I said passed by the Uniparty globalist war machine. NAFTA was a globalist scheme to enrich themselves, then financialize what was left of the US economy. In 2025/26 the US cannot even produce antibiotics to survive a future conflict with the CCP. I call that a national security issue but you will be hard pressed to have that addressed by Washington.

You are correct no one political party was to blame. All of Washington was and is to blame, our reps regardless of party continually give lip service to the common man then sell us out to the highest bidder and lobbyists. It's all a big club and most Americans aren't in it. I'll stop here because this has drifted away from displaced manufacturing.

Oh ive seen it my entire life. 60+ now. Also GOP since Reagan cut taxes on rich / raise taxes on middle class to pay for it and triple the deficit.
Many of the Reagan 80's tax cut people were the same one's did dRumps 2016 & 2024 cuts.
People fall for it every time.
Then when the other party has to fix that and fund the cuts they're called "tax & spend" liberals.
Here's somthing else Social Security is paid for by the payroll tax not deficit spending or the budget. Politicians want you to think otherwise.

But I'm the one making it political ?

Hey Dan, I have been middle class my entire adult life. My taxes are always lower under republican budgets. What's actually been happening is dumbfucks like you let the TV and your democratic heroes tell you republicans raised taxes on the middle class. Mostly because you don't actually pay any appreciable federal tax so you have no idea what happens to the middle class. Your brain is just hardwired to hate people who make more money than you and to believe the bullshit about democrats supposedly being for the working man. In reality none of them are really for the working man. And democrats give you guys pittance like food stamps so you think they actually give a fuck about you.

Here's a fact. If your taxes went up under Trump you are not middle class and you sure as fuck aren't poverty class.

Another doozy from Clinton with the '96 Telecommunications Act gave us monopolies in Radio, ruining culturally distinct markets and homogenizing it nationwide, with next level soulless and corrupt programming.

Yep, the 96 telecom act is basically what destroyed mainstream music forever.

Notice how "pop music" had instruments before that? No matter the genre?

It was never really their choice. Most companies have lost their identity, look act pretty much every new sedan/crossover you can buy for under $100,000...

Generic blobs made from the same rearranged parts with the emblem swapped out, packed with multi-gov mandated gizmos nobody wants.

It's not that there's organic demand for another rebranded blob, it's that it's virtually impossible to make anything else at scale.

When everything is dependent on a few global component superfactories + every product has to adhere to and appeal to as many jurisdictions as possible, all anyone makes or sells is rebranded blobs from a generic global component kits. That or make stuff out of popsicle sticks on etsy.

Recent developments in the US are a glimmer of hope, but waiting for independent manufacturers to replace a global megasupplier is always very rewarding long-term, very painful short-term.

The pessimist in me says all of the changes will be dismantled before we get to see the benefits, the pain will all be for nothing, and all these businesses planning to pivot back to distinct/domestic production will get toasted, forced to slap their logo on more Temu/Alibaba products and forever at the mercy of trade wars.

Oh SNAP!

Not to be confused with Crate - The government cheese for amplifiers.

Then, even further down the assisted food chain, is Bugera (though, some pretty WIC'ed tones can be had from them).

Crate was great, the Power Block was way ahead of its time

Don't know know the Peavey story and was talking about universal pressures facing any biz that tries to scale without outsourcing or rebranding generic platforms as their suppliers were consolidated into a few overseas megafactories. Maybe Peavey had other problems but they would have (like virtually everyone else) been funneled down the same path.

I wish James Brown would return an revamp their entire trans tube tech for the modern world. James’ pedals he designed and sold the company of sounded really good. Their single most successful amplifier which made their company successful is what he designed.

I can get behind that

Velvet George is your canary in the coalmine along with all the longterm businesess in my town hanging it up due to current economic instability.
If George is hanging it up its time to panic.
Ive just asked my boss for another raise ive had 3 in 3 yrs and my wife & I are still not keeping pace w/ prices & inflation.
I may have to get a 2nd job and im a semi retired disabled Veteran.
Not going down w/o a fight but i have limitations w/ a surgery scheduled for next month.
Instead of "early retirement" im working on an "early grave" as US Gov't informed me i can't fully retire til 67 and im a boomer. They snuck that in there.
For you 20/30/40/50 somethings the GOP will likely make your retirement 72/74/76 they're banking you'll be dead before you collect.
Ain't the GOP great ?

PV's problems are self inficted, you noticed how much Hartly cared about his employees in the "undercover boss" segment as he viewed their "stories"
remotly from a $300,000 RV mic'd up to his stepson instead of actually suiting up & showing up in person to talk with them.
PV never has had an indentity people stopped buying their products b/c they're garbage.
They outsourced to Jina for cheap labor. Everything on the planet is made in Asia b/c Asia has invested in their own manufacturing infrastructure
wilst the good ole USA has for the last 50 years fired everyone & sold out by their own accord.
You tell me who's to blame ?

It was greed and a deep contempt for the American worker on the part of Clinton who believed it was important to have cheap goods and wanted to break the power of the unions in the Democrat party in favor of the lawyers. Although some of it it predated that quite a bit - Carter and his plan to replace American manufacturing workers with a wave of illegal immigrants.

I don't believe that was 'snuck in'. Pretty sure the retirement schedule was determined and posted in 1983? That, and I believe you should be able to take up to 70% of the benefit now but I'd have to dig in deeper. I personally am not counting on any Social Security and I grew up mostly in the lower middle class until I got serious with my career choice. We were a hot dogs and beans mac and cheese kinda family :dunno:

Both the "Undercover Boss" episode and the promise that the Invective would be made in the USA turned me off the brand. The Invective looks like an amazingly feature laden, high gain monster...and I was all in on getting one. I seriously thought they would sell like hot cakes. But I'm sure most of y'all have noticed that it certainly has not been a major hit for Peavey.

Also, you can take your plea, telling me what to do and stick it up your ass. Mkay.
So you respond like this to my neutral post? Wow, such class. :jerkit:

My take-away from Dan's post was that no matter what a certain political party tries to spin, pure greed is the base of it and from all the back and forths, pretty sure that greed has no specific preference for a party. :dunno:

But you do you, mr. tough guy. Mkay?
